How essential is PVP?

eyesadieyesadi Member UncommonPosts: 56

Really wanna try this game but, as an older gamer, I DO NOT PVP.  For me, getting ganked all day is no longer fun.

So.....with that said.....can this game be enjoyed by us old school PVE'ers?

From my reads to date it would appear that a pure PVE player would be limited to our home continent, and probably miss out on a lot of content?

Appreciate any and all feedback from you guys and gals already having all the fun!

Yes, it can be enjoyed by old school PVEers. Up to level 30 you are in safe zones most of the time. There are quests, dungeons, open world bosses (raids) and fantastic crafting - best stuff in game is crafted.

BUT - it is not a solo game. You can play it solo but you will miss out on many things which make the game fun. A working guild is pretty much a requirement (or a bunch of friends). Especially when you get to the higher levels you will come in contact with pvp but as a group it is possible to avoid it - or try it out and have fun - there is nothing to lose.

You can please some MMO-players all of the time and you can please all MMO-players some of the time but you can't please all MMO-players all of the time.

It is a heavy PvP game, but if you pick an empty server( usually last one) , you can avoide it most of the time. You'll just need to wait for 2 month or so, for players to leave.

It happend in Rus version of Archeage, lots of empty servers.

Thanks for the advice......I REALLY do wanna try this one.  I am also a craft a holic.....one of the main draws for me.

That dang PVP after 30 is the ONLY thing keeping me from giving Trion my @150.00!

I so well recall the early days of Aion.  Having a ball.....then BLAM!  One shotted the gankers!  I can just see that happening here.  A real shame, for me, that they just don't give us the option NOT to.

It just occurs to me Trion can keep EVERYONE happy.  Let the PVP'ers have at it with their own kind and let us older gamers graze peacefully......so simple!

If you don't like pvp, that's perfectly fine, but, why are you going at them as if they're some kind of monters? I keep seeing these comments everywhere, how pvp'ers are *insert insulting name*, and while obviously true for many, there's just as many jerks and rude people in pve, being it raids, dungeons, and everywhere else.

As for AA, as said, no pvp before level 30. I don't know if you can pk members of your own faction and go rogue. level 30 to 50, there's peace and war times. During peace times, no pvp is allowed. the north continent is all pvp, so it's almost like an "rvr" area. The sea, again from what i know, is owpvp. I don't know if there are safe areas in the waters. So, you can quest, craft, explore as long as you're carefull.

Why is peacetime only 60 mins a day? Seems ridiculous

Well, I really don't mean to "go at them".  I am a multiple account man with Rift and REALLY like Trion.  IMHO the best game company going ATM.  Their transition to FTP was wonderful.

I just don't understand why ANY game company, producing what appears to be a VERY good game, in a market filled with crap lately would purposely LIMIT their market?

Example - McDonalds - as of tomorrow if you want one of their burgers you MUST get it with onions, mushrooms and NEVER with any Ketchup.  Sure.....they will still sell some burgers.....but not nearly as many.

They are essentially eliminating a large percentage of the available market right off the bat.  Name me one PVP centric game in existance today that has a large following.

I know for sure I am not alone in keeping my $150.00 in my pocket because of the enforced PVP.

Why not do what Aion did?  Or even Conan?

Perhaps it's truly senility setting in.......I just don't see the logic in purposely limiting your customer base.

And yes......I concede the point......PVP is VERY popular!

    But then so is PVE?
