I'm a female, not that matters a whole lot but, there it is. I love CUTE and cute things in games. I enjoyed WOW but am waiting until WOD expansion later this year to return to it.
I've played RIFT which was pretty cool but is P2P and it was alright. Aion was nice but I wanted something else. I spent $79.99 on the imperial edition of The Elder Scrolls Online and am trying my best to get a refund. I sorely regret buying it because I really did NOT like it. Very boring to me and lacking so much that other MMO'S have.
I love flashy spells. good &interesting classes, LOVE mounts and being a part of a guild. I'm NOT into PVP much and have barely touched PVP in any MMO I've played in the last several years. I might try it of course, but it's the last thing on my list to do in a game.
Based on these things, could anyone kind of tell me if they think, I would enjoy FFXIV? I really regret missing that $15 sale on Steam a few months ago and now the game is at $29.99 again but that won't stop me from buying it. I don't own a PS4 but heard it runs even better on one but not going to purchase one just to play FFXIV
Thanks for your input.

Wow, thanks! They have a promo sale that ends today, so thank you again
I think you might like the game.
- Has a good character creation system with a barbershop in game to customize certain appearance settings.
- Is very story-centric. (has a lot of fetch quests in between the more important story quests though, but that's in pretty much most themepark games now)
- Has a variety of classes you can play (and do them all on one character!) (there is a legitimate complaint about classes feeling very monotonous early on, but after level 30 they tend to pile up abilities on you between what your class learns and what the job stones grant you via quests)
- Nice attack and spell animations
- Lots of Mounts and Minions (vanity pets) to collect
- Has PvP but it's not forced on you and isn't present in the open world. I've not even touched it since it came out in the previous content patch.
- Has a good community, despite what some of the posts on the official forums looks like. The Reddit community is much more friendly and helpful.
The important thing to take into consideration about a Final Fantasy game is its story. It has very lengthy dialog at times, but if that isn't your thing you could always skip through it, but I think it'll lessen the experience of the game.
Driven posted a link for a sale on Newegg, and I believe Amazon has a sale as well, so you can still pick it up pretty cheap. I think for $15 it's worth trying out. If you don't like it after 30 days chances are it's just not a good match.
Thanks everyone! Your input helped a lot! I will also definitely check out the Reddit community.
i just purchased FFXIV digital download for $13.63 with NewEggs promo code! Even better than $15! Thanks so much
I'm downloading it now and look forward to exploring the world soon.
Just a little update for you gals and guys. I really am enjoying the game so far! Everything is so colorful, the graphics are gorgeous!!! I think FFXIV has got to be one of the most beautiful games I've ever seen on my laptop. I love the way the characters look down or up depending on the height of the character or turn their heads to look. It's these attention to detail that is totally missing from other MMO's, that is fantastic.
One of my characters is a very tiny race, as soon as she came up to a NPC, he changed his stance to looking down at her. I made her move around him and his head turned as she moved! No other MMO, I've played ever had this. The grass moves, the shadows look realistic. Fantastic!
I love the few spells so far I've used on my Archer, Summoner and Arcanist. All 3 are not yet level 7 yet but so far, I like the spells. The 2.5 wait is slightly annoying but I can live with it. It's definitely not going to keep me from playing or make me stop.
I was invited to a FC and boy, they were very friendly and helpful. I know sooner or later, I will meet rude people, but that's ok. Also did a few Fates which went well.
My experiences so far in this game, have been A++
FFXIV definitely has the cuteness factor locked down, so you might enjoy it. And as with most asian-style MMOs, they go overboard with the spell effects and animations. If you are looking for a game right now to hold you over until the WoW expansion, this might work for you.
If you can hold out until June, I'd give Wildstar a serious look. That game might be right up your alley.
Play with the emotes when you get the chance, if you are not completely sold that will do it.
Any mmo worth its salt should be like a good prostitute when it comes to its game world- One hell of a faker, and a damn good shaker!
i bought and x-box while i had an ps3 just to get HALO.
ffxiv is not my cup of tea, very generic old kind of mmo,90% of the quests felt to me they just made something up too keep you busy.
i could not finish the game after the 10th time i had to call a npc to walk for 100m after me i just had enough of this crap.
but i know a guy that said he just fought and levelled that way.
most pretty mmo i have ever seen and the dungeons are fun,i got irritated on pc cause you have to click on the tarhet before it ingages very old game mechanics.
i think ESO is great and on ps4 you can play DESTINY whish is going to be fun.
I keep going back to try it, again recently, but cannot get into it. Everything is too cute for me and the look of the armor is not to my taste. I know low level armors are a bit crappy looking but to my higher level armors just look weird. I'm probably not a FF fan.
