Free 30 Days - What Cheek !

spizzspizz Member UncommonPosts: 1,971

Since the early access did run out you need to insert the code for the full game.

The full game includes Free 30 Day Gamplay Time.

When you login into your account after typing in the code, you get directly to the page with the request for a subscription.

I could not find a single hint or word about the "FREE 30 days".....nothing.

There was already another thread asking the exact same thing and you know full well that mmo's have usually asked for a credit card that won't be charged (shouldn't be charged image ) until your 30 days is up.

Not how I would do it but there it is. There is nothing new here.

    this might help:

We want everyone who purchased ESO to have immediate access to the included 30 days ofESO game time. In the event that you enter your payment information for authorization and the transaction cancels due to lack of funds in your account, please contact our Support Team. We'll work with you to ensure you have access to your included 30 days of game time.

Thats the 2nd part you are talking about, but there is not a single word about the free 30 days.

You are talking about the marketing with free 30 days, but at the end people have to pay for a subscription to get them.

This ripp off is really not new in the mmo business, thats true. But its actually bad business for european countries since especially credit card and online payment is not that much wide spreed and accepted  by the public like in commonwealth states.

I'm not playing, but it sounds like it works like every other p2p game at launch.  This usually changes when free trials come out (well for the free trial portion at least), but every launch this happens and every launch we hear about it like it is some new thing.  I still remember when DAOC's free trial required credit card info.  As far as I know, though, no other game required a credit card for the free trial, thank goodness.

You got it wrong guys, he knows about the fact he has to put up a sub plan at registration he was asking why is it they don't mention anywhere at all during registration that he gets a 30day trial prior to his first charge for the sub.

In a way he his advising they could do this better to prevent people to think it is a scam. And he his right.

When i got WoW 9 and a half years ago they mention right from the start at registration "Thank you for your registration by adding a cd key to the game you will receive a free 30 day trial, but will need to provide payment option and choose a subscription. " Well it was a similar message anyways.

You can't think that everyone plays only mmorpg or that it is not there first time playing a sub game. Some never played a sub game at all and decided to try with ESO.

When I got Final Fantasy XIV ARR, it didn't even ask me for my credit card information when I put in my key. It just gave me a download link, and I was able to play for my 30 days. When you buy an MMO, you don't know right away if you are going to like the game. And you may see all you want to see after the first 30 days. You shouldn't be forced to put in your info before your free time is up. If its advertised as free, it should very well be free. This just seems like a dirty practice to me.

On the eternal quest for that one perfect MMO.

I suppose they could say it on their account info. It does say it in your receipt of purchase. And looking at it now it does say "charge me every 30 days", when setting it up.

Maybe they think that's clear enough?

I've played a few MMOs that don't ask for your CC info until your 30 days are up. I think FFXIV ARR was one of them.

I waited about a week after FFIV launch to get it but at the time, I needed to put in my credit card info to activate the account.  I just went in and immediately canceled it in case I didn't want to renew.

After you did purchase a subscription model you get a message which thanks you for buying a certain game time.

The only hint about the free 30 days are seen when you watch your "remaining game time", they add it.

Maybe it could be more clear. As I said, it indicates that you are charged "every 30 days", your receipt for purchasing the game prior to even having to add the sub says (though in small print) that you get 30 days included.

Now, I took that for "you get 30 days". but if this wasn't clear to you then I suppose they need to make it more clear.
