Sounds pretty much what Dark and Light is "promising"... but we all know the story...

I don't know if we can count on them... I hope so..

From that here is a small list of games that promise that:

    Vanguard: Saga of Heroes
    Hero's Journey

    Ones that come close are:

    Ragnarok Online 2
    Age of Conan
    Pirate of the Burning Sea

Anyone else wanna plug the games they are a fanboy to?

WoW is worth playing. Despite the slams the game gets, it does have some strong good aspects. Casual play, good class design, artistic environments, lots of quests, talent trees whereby you can be completely different from the next person. If you want to hear an accurate other side of the coin, then it would be poor endgame, grouping is unfulfilling and revolves around instances, Pvp Blizzard seem to have lost their plans for how this figures into the game other than Battlegrounds, community- the annoying elitism which seems to plague every mmorpg, the youngness of people, but there are ALOT of older people as well. Find a good guild you can find them.

Overall can be a fun game to a beginner or a more experienced mmorpgers, but if you desire more in the way of endgame, community or grouping then WoW is what you are looking for.

Hmmmm. If you want something that's just completely unique and out of the genre, look forward to RF Online. It mixes sci-fi with fantasy. You can sign up for beta on the site: www.rf-onlinegame.com

    It will release in February.

Hmm all listed are in development so all are just promises .some like age of conan is even so early in development not much is even known.

Well EQ2 has loads of quest, has the best graphics in any mmo if you got a system that can handle it,has mounts, yes there is a freaking jump button, instancing, mounts(horses and magic carpets-flying of course) and an upcoming pvp upgrade. Also has a large selection of classes and races and one of the best crafting system around bar maybe pre nge SWG.

So IMHO this the nearest to what you are asking.

I would suggest Everquest 2 because it is one of the  best games out, tho it laks seemless world.

    I love seemless worlds
Dose not have, dought it ever will.  I hope this isnt la deciding factor as i believe everything else you want is here.

    some instancing
Plenty of instancing.  Actually probably more than is needed, many instances have destructable terain, movable boards and things like that.

    pvp
Realm Vrs. Realm is comming out in febuary.  Definatly going to be a homerun good Vrs evil.  The entire game is almost set up for it, And better yet no need to worry about nerfs as the devs can change and balance PVP combat and not effect PVE combat and Visa versa!!!

    Raid creatures
Tons of raids, the newst ones are yet to be totaly finished. Cant give alot of detail as ive only been on one raid so far.

    fair death system
Just a bit of exp debt and 10% off (once it gets to zero it is unwareable) but can be repaird for cheep

    ground and air mounts
No air mounts yet, but alot of ground mounts, Everything from Ghosts to flying carpets

    detailed character creation
One of the most detailed ive used.  You can litterally see the difference in peoples faces it is quite amazing.  But that is a summing people take the time to really *take advantage* of the costomazation availiable just from the creaton screen, as i do.  You can really look unique

    large world
Not in terms of numbers of zones, but the zones themselves are massive, 3 zones in WoW can fit in one EQ2 zone.  And they still have
    some fun facts

    Vampires in Norrath
    300+

    NPCs
    40,000+

    Items
    46,856

    Weapons
    9,500+

    Armor
    9,500+

    Shields
    1,500+

    Misc.
    26,000+

    Player Spells
    3,307

    Quests
    3,100+

    Quests completed by players
    102,640,831

    Recipes
    9,000+

    Zones
    140+

    Playable zone areas
    400+ zone instances

Rough square area of world play space
    66.75 kilometers

    good graphics
    One of the best out:
    image
    image

    good questing
The game is EverQUEST, tons of quests and fun too, not just kill 10 of xmob, but really cool quests with advanced story lines, that are hard but offer a huge reward

    solo and group play
Plenty of both.  Dungens for groups and raids, never a shortage of people, many named mobs.  Not to mention plenty of questing and content for soloers.  Like you i like to solo and group.

    creature variety
Hundreds of different creatures from Armadillos to Velociraptors, to mummies to Dragons,  tons of monsters

    many classes and races
24 classes and 16 races with no race-class restrictions, not to mention nine artisain classes that are parallel to your adventuring class.

    ground and air mounts
    already said this oneimage

    A freaking jump button
spacebar is default but that can change,  my mouse has a cool little button on the side that makse me jump too.

    good world physics
Not sure waht you mean by this......im guessing this is more for like space or ships give me more detail on what you mean.....

    sub skills, and trade skills
Alternate advancements come out in Febuary.  The game is desighned for a possible 200 levels, enemy master spells, spells from quests,  Ratial traits that come every 2 levels.  And thats just the begining.  A branched System that starts from one artisain class to 9 as you level.

    good crafting system
Apparently one of the best, It is fun, entertaining, worth it for money.  And preatty easy to level with the latest updatse.

    ...any suggestions?

So i think you should play eq2 because it is a great game, and i think you will have alot of fun here.

Another point to make is that it has an awsome community.

Dont assume it is evercrack like its predacesor......it is a completely different game.  Its not to hard, but there is definatly a chalenge, Kind of like the happy Medium int the MMO world today.

Anyway to finnish up, If you do come and join a PVP server DO NOT join the (EXC)pvp server because that server allows transfers and buying gear offline etc.  In a pvp server that is not a desriable thing.  So just join the normal one and you dont need to worry about it imageimage

hope to see you on VampDrace!!!image

The new EQ2, better than ever befor !

ya sorry about the first pic, smaller then i thought it would be.image

    Jut some things i forgot........

I should also mention that the game pulls out more contant at an insanely fast rate, so i dought you will get boered easily.

They have come out with 2 mini expansions for under $10.00, and 1 expansion that comes with the original game for $29.99 with a free month subscription

And another expansion is comming out in febuary for 26.99,  but you dont need it till you are around 55+

Plus all the free added content from daily updatse to the Live updatse that add all sorts of free features, new armour and quests.

They have had 19 live updatse thus far........

And all that in just over a year and 2 monthsimage

The new EQ2, better than ever befor !

    DAOC

    • Best Support, hands down.
    • Mythic cares about their customers. Kunou.... a Mythic Rep, even posts here in the DAOC forums.
    • Despite being 4 years old Mythic has managed, through updates, to keep the graphics fresh and competitive while enhancing the game to the point where there is nothing out at this point that rivals it on the Fantasy Genre... and I'd say EVE is only barely holding it's own in the overal MMORPG market as far as which game has more quality.
    • Best RVR PVP on the market.
    • Among the best overall PVP on the market, if not the best.
    • Solid crafting system. Not the best out there, but definitely worthwhile.
    • Player housing.
    • Player owned mounts (before everyone else did it I might add).
    • Character Customization is adequate at char creation.
    • Character Customization within the game is 2nd to none. Allowing you to customize the look and color of your armor as well as your weapons.
    • Guilds can have their own Guild Houses
    • Since Day 1 Guilds have been able to emblazon their shields and cloaks.
    • Excellent PVE content
    • Top notch Quest system with very deep and involved quests at every level of the game.
    • Top notch player economy.
    • Market system that, while not the best, is certainly useful so that players can find items they are looking for on the vendor market in the housing areas.
    • SEAMLESS WORLD!!! You only zone when entering/exiting a capital city. Going from one expansion (or the core game) to another, entering/exiting dungeons and entering the PVP areas (Frontiers/Battlegrounds). You can walk from one end of your kingdom to another on the surface without ever zoning as long as you stay within the same expansion.

A lot of other games out there have 1, or more, of the above aspects to them. None have ALL those features except EVE... and the genres and playstyles of EVE and DAOC are SOOO different that they don't compete with one another.

There's not an MMORPG on the market that has EVERYTHING that DAOC has to offer and those few that come close to the quantity of features do not boast the QUALITY of those features that DAOC does.

4 years old and still going strong and still, to date, the best Fantasy MMORPG on the market and tied for the top spot overall among MMORPG's overall in my book.

    WoW may have more players.
EQ2 may have a more powerful graphics engine.
EVE may support more simultaneous players in a single world.

But pound for pound and hour for hour... DAOC is, literally, the *only* MMORPG that I have *never* gotten bored while playing. I miss the UO style skill system in SWG but other than that.... DAOC is nearly perfect.

The above information is, of course, my opinion. Your mileage may vary.

Well, I like Turf Battles which I started playing 2 weeks ago and I think it has many of the qualities you're looking for. It's got a huge map, pretty good graphics, quite innovative quests, PVP (designed also for lower levels), cool monsters, and yes, a jump botton. image

I'd say that your list definitely sounds like its along the lines of Vanguard:Saga of Heroes.

One of the fansites created a comprehensive FAQ from everything devs have posted (devs are very active within the fan community) and so it's pretty useful. You can find it here: http://www.silkyvenom.com/pages/faq.php

I have to go with Asheron's Call. It has all the features I like such as housing, pvp, character development, quests, and groups. It is also the only mmorpg out right now with a new update every month with new content. Every month the storyline evolves.

The graphics are below average right now, but I like them. They were updated with the latest expansion pack, so they don't look ancient anymore. At least you can expect the game to run smooth even with lots of action on the screen.

The community is awesome. It seems like the whole server bands together to complete quests these days. The game just has lots of great people. Some would say that the game is dying and there aren't enough people. I disagree. It feels like there are more people running around now than a year ago when WoW came out. Just two days ago, I went on a big quest with about 30 people.

The game is very soloable, but it's not hard to find a group for either hunting or questing. I have been questing on a newb, and I have been asking if others want to do noob quests, and I seem to always get other people joining me.

The quests themselves have a lot of back story and NPC interaction. The quests and dungeons feel unique. You don't feel like you are just doing the same quest over and over like you feel in WoW.

In summary, great community, fun combat and questing, and all the features you could want out of an mmorpg. I guess the drawback is that the game is old, but that's not a logical excuse anyway. No matter the age, it's a really great game.

All the above mentioned games are good for what you're lookin' for.
WoW Is what I'm in right now, it seems to fit the majorit of your list.

I push it every time and I'll say it again here.
    * T R I A L S*

You mentioned you don't want to waste money, good. Don't.
First off, when I'm looking for a new game I don't even add ones to my list that don't have a free trial.
If they won't even allow new players to try the game out first, there's a reason.
    A) they're not that popular. B) they want all the money they can get.

Search around, a lot of MMOs out there have pretty nice trials.
WoW has one, Saga of Ryzom has one, just search around.

Best of luck to you, I hope you find one that fits within your list.

Um... I read your post back in the Open Beta forum. Aren't you one of the game's developers? What exactly are you trying to pull by pushing a game from the pretend viewpoint of a player?
  • MonkofdoomMonkofdoom Member Posts: 9

I'm not sure why you believe i'm one of the game developers... I play the game and have done since about the 4th version of beta.

I have gained the rank of CSA, which basically means i help answer questions and moderate the forums but this is what any of you could do if you where a part of the game such as other players.

I posted in the open beta as SU has recently gone into Open beta so it made sense...

Please don't assume what you do not know as it could be damaging to reputations etc.

I am in know way trying to state an arguement here but to clear the facts.

Does this post not imply that you are in on the development of Shields Up? If not, then you sure are givng yourself a lot of airs...

  • MonkofdoomMonkofdoom Member Posts: 9

When posting the open beta post i thought it best to copy a more detailed article written by the developer of SU as i felt it gave an accurate description of the game and things you can do. I didn't realise it would give the wrong impression of myself or confuse people.

In no means was i using this thread to get a cheap advertisement etc but just to voice my true oppinion. I apologise for any confusion or miss guidance given.
