Room for improvements??

There are lots of room for improvments in SWTOR. We all know it's far from perfect.

Let's hear what the loyal fanbase see as the top areas to improve the game so it can reach its full potential.

Remember to refrain from personal attacks and accusations and keep the discussion civil. ;-)

I'll start:

  • armor - need more diversity and new design
  • interdependency - give the players a reason to interact with each other
  • companion customization - some of the companions are visually unaffected when they get armor on
  • diversity - make it viable to play a hybrid template
  • social aspect - introduce a non combat class

I don´t say I belong to the "loyal fanbase" but I´d gladly play again if

    - they add proper housing

    - add day night cycle and make the planets less static

    - add minigames, like the casino

    - add 250% speeders because the mounts speed is a joke for a Starwars game

    - make GSF more like SWG JTL with an open universe

I also would not say I'm a loyal player as I have only come back to the game on occasion after it went f2p for my lightsaber fix. My ONLY gripe with this game is the same one that was present since I beta tested it.

    The graphics engine.

EA bought this hunk of crap off a small development team on a discount as it was unfinished and then handed it to Bioware to build off of and replace the engine they had originally intended. It's a cartoonish-like engine which for some reason runs at framerates that are worse than more graphic intensive realistic engines. I can rock Final Fantasy XIV (I'm not trying to say it's a superior game, only comparing the graphics engines) on high settings and amidst a raid with constant spells, multiple people, and boss effects galore. I will average around 75fps on the most intensive fights. SWTOR though? I'm lucky to hit that mark while by myself on Tatteoine out in the baron wasteland on medium settings. The engine can't be further optimized however as that would require re-coding of the entire game which is financially an impossibility at this point.

So, cash shop restrictions, class balances, voice-acting changes amidst new content, and character progression flames aside. The only thing preventing me from truly returning to this game and staying is the graphics engine which it's built upon. There's no reason for me to be able to run more graphically intense games on high settings and achieve better frame rates than a game with unrealistic and phased areas to reduce numbers of players.

The graphics engine is one thing I don't understand. SOE worked on EQ's engine over the yrs, and with as many people playing, it seems like BW would have someone working on the side to either fix the current engine, or installing a whole new one.

TOR doesn't bounce me offline constantly like SWG did with the endless macros, but that is no excuse for not having the game run top notch.

BW is one of my favorite game makers, but damn, have to call it as I see it. With a better engine, they could do so much more for this game.

I'll reply to the actual OP's post when he decides to use regular text with no highlighting.

His use of high contrast colors and highlights in the post really strains my eyes, I have no desire to read it.
