Crysis 1 Any Good?
Looking to pick up crysis 1 on steam for $5 wondering if the game is actually any good or is just used for visual benchmarking?
Can't say i'm really into modern shooters all that much either, The last shooter i enjoyed was Metro last Light but that mainly was because of its post apocalyptic setting.
How much of an open world does crysis have? Is there/How much character customization available?

While a really good game with a great story it definitely is not an open world by any stretch of the imagination. All of the Crysis games are standard Corridor-Cutscene-Corridor type shooters. There is no going off the path the developers have laid out for you. If you want Open World that is more what the Far Cry games are about.
As for Character Customization there really isn't any. It's more like you unlock things and can choose between which things you have active at any given time. Your character's appearance never changes however.
Edit: Also if you liked Metro because of the setting you may want to give the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series a look. They are open world and have some really good RPG elements to them to boot.
