Looking for a low-ish spec MMORPG, with certain qualities!

Heya peeps!

Ok so this PC is...

- 2.4ghz Core 2 Duo

- Geforce 8800GTS

- 2gb RAM

So... not appalling, but I plan to upgrade a fair bit in future of course.

Aaaaanywho, so I am looking for an MMO... a bit like the following...

- Pleasant to play and lots too explore. Not overly dingy or violent.

- Ideally player housing

- Friendly, fairly large community

- Ideally "action rpg" -style combat

- Plenty of depth and I like atmosphere too in a game

- Not too childish (but cartoony styles and so on are ok, as long as its not obviously overly kiddy)

So erm.. any suggestions, that are compatible with my hardware? I've been looking into some stuff here and there but it would be great to hear what you all think!

Thanks! :)

Weird.  I just happened upon a game with very low system requirements, RPG style combat, player housing, stylized graphics in the vein of Wizard 101, but not as child oriented, with player housing and farming.  I'm not so sure about the deep exploration.  It seems to be a pretty casual game.  It does have a fairly dedicated group of players, but I don't think it's a huge crowd of people who play.  It is F2P, but doesn't seem to have the typical pay wall.  I have not personally played it.  I was just curious about it and asked on the MMORPG.com forums and a few people downloaded it, tried it and didn't respond with the usual, "This sucks!", so I figure they must be doing something right.

I am likely to be trying it soon though.  I'm still in class and I don't want to get wrapped up in any games right now.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

I think you might struggle with the action rpg combat requirement on your system as that type of combat is a newish thing for MMO's the games with action combat are generally newer, more demanding  to run.

Some games you can probably run okay are:

Rift ticks all the boxes apart from action combat and some will argue the atmosphere / lore of the game isn't amazing.

WoW is easy run on low specs, no housing currently but I guess it suits your other needs.

Lord of the Rings online - Housing, Awesome lore / world if you're a fan of tolkien, large world, pretty amazing community in my experience.

Eldevin - browser game thats looking real promising and it's surprisingly deep for a browser game.

I definitely can't think of any action combat mmo's that have housing, never mind that will run on your rig.

None of the above is probably very helpful but hey, I tried

I am the Arch-fiend, the Despoiler of Worlds, and by my hands shall the false Emperor fall.

    Thank you for the posts!

Actually, my situation is looking up as I now have 4gb of RAM and a GTS 450 graphics card, and intend on making more upgrades in the near future!

I guess at present I'm mostly looking at PSO2, Elder Scrolls Online, Entropia and TERA. I've recently been playing a lot of EQ2 and DDO which are both very cool!

It's looking a bit brighter for me atm! ^_^

I know of people who play with far lesser spec that you listed above.
