Will You Be Rushing To Find And Collect All 303 ESO Skyshards?

I'm interested to know how everyone thinks you are going to approach Skyshards. How important will they be to your strategy?

Are there 303 Skyshards in all 3 factions?  or 303 in each faction?   ....makes a big difference.

i figure my character needs about 80-90 skill points at most by max level to be a solid character to start end game.

i will try and get all the shards i can but if i need to go back and collect some later i will, not going to stop and get every single one along the way. (assuming it isn't easy to do that)

i also will be taking my time getting to max level, so no "rushing" about it.

    that is just me though.

Rush?  No.  I'm not in a hurry to do anything.

from what I experience last beta weekend, the game has a fantastic pace to it. I won't be rushing at all, just going to kick back and exist in this game.

No plans to rush.  Will probably make sure that i've not missed any once I've done wiht a zone, but no plans to just run around the world and pick them up before i get to the appropriate content.

I mean, if i get to say... level 24 (or 37 or w/e) and find that i REALLY REALLY REALLY need 1 more skillpoint to get that skill i've been waiting for, i might go pick up the next 3.   But that's about it.

Total in game that a single character can obtain.  So across all 3 factions, meaning some can't be reached until 50+.

But that is withouth any crafting, socialising, skyshard hunting, treasure maps, finishing story content...  I think 200 to 300 will be the normal for most player..

and then there is veteran ranks 1 to 5 and 6 to 10 ...  Which are gonna take atleaset as long each...   Add some PvP to all of that, and you have atleast 1000 hours of go e play ahead ..  With the content thats in at release and a single character... Its gonna take me a while ..

As usual...I won't be rushing to do anything. That is not what MMOs are supposed to be about.

I'm sorry. That's just fun to read. I may have had a Nathan Fillion geek squee moment. Like the majority of the posters, I plan to take my time. I haven't dumped 1000 hours into an MMO in ages. It may take me two years to do that this time around. I'm married, 35, busy job, two dogs, learning to play two instruments, working on my podcast and beer blog, and a home brewer. It's not like it was 10 years ago. But I tell you what, I'll enjoy every single hour and when my first character is level 50, veteran rank 10, with all the skyshards, great crafting portfolio, and awesome looking gear, I'll actually feel like I've achieved something. Not like my last few MMOs when I felt like there was nothing new to do after 4 months.

No. Once I know what I need I'll pick some up.

Trying to get all of them immediately is a good way to burn out and start hating yourself. I plan to just make sure that I get all that are in my general area.
  • IselinIselin Member LegendaryPosts: 18,719

You can't even get at 172 of them (86 per alliance) until after 50.

Skyshards are just about getting a skill point for every three. You'd be better off focusing on doing all the content that gives you skill points as rewards (some quests and first completion of an instanced dungeon) and killing named world and public dungeon group bosses that give you a skill point when you first kill them.

Full 5 of 6 crafting skills cost easily more than 100 skill points. Keep that in mind if you wish to do it all on one character.

    Nope. No way.

I am gonna enjoy the game at my leisure and level calmly while enjoying the world and going by the natural pace. I never rush when i play a MMO for the first time and since ESO has a special feeling to it while leveling, i don't even want to think about running to max level.

Once maxed up, i will definitely head to the other alliances and only after that, i will consider it, that is, if i don't already have the skill points i need by then.

Pre-nerf - Vet ranks 1-10 have been done in less than 40 hours.

So you are saying post nerf - 400-600 hours?

That's a hell of a nerf - I doubt that slowed them down 10 times.

Yes, if you play them by questing....  The 40 hours where done by extreme powerleveling with a group trough huge amounts of mobs...  If you just sticked to questing a veteran level took like 20 to 30 hours of gameplay..  Actually a vetteran level takes just as much time as leveling from 1 to 15...  Because for every veteran level there is a sepperate alliance zone of content... I am talking from the pov of a completionist...

and you are assuming that the extreme powerleveling done to reach max in 40 hours will not be totally nerfed at release... Allready mob XP got halfed just to prevent people from leveling this fast...

and while leveling can be fast... Skillpoint hunting will be far from fast

I'm torn between spending my time seriously crafting after level 10 or rushing to get the skillpoints. Can't wait for this weekend's beta :)

Now here is a person who understands how an MMO is supposed to be played :)

I'm sure I'll try to collect as many shards as I can, but I'm not going to ruin my enjoyment and fun to find them.

That's actually a really good idea... I think I'm gonna do the same. I think I would enjoy the game much more not rushing around

Well in a year you most likely wont need to buy it either as it will already be free2play.

I plan on collecting them while I level. I wont be leaving a leveling zone until I have all the shards available to me in that zone. This way I will know which zones I have completed and which zones I need to visit once im 50 for the rest of the shards.
