    Interesting.  Either he is there as some sort of an easter egg for fans... or he is TES's version of Tom Bombadil.

    Most likely an ancestor. He says that both his father and grandfather were named M'aiq in Skyrim, giving justification for the presence of the same character in Oblivion and Morrowind.
