Steam is now selling Witcher 1 for 1.59€

http://store.steampowered.com/app/20900/

and Witcher 2 for 3.99€

They also let you to try out both games for free during this weekend. If you've missed these amazing games before now it's good time to buy.

    Thanks!

I didn't like Witcher 1 at all, mostly because the controls on the PC were so awkward. Is Witcher 2 the same game with updated graphics or is it significantly different?

Witcher 2 has new game engine, so it's a lot more than just the graphics update. The combat is now done using WASD + mouse and it's a lot more actiony than the combat in Witcher 1 was. But even if it's been updated a lot, it's still in many ways the same game, and many of the game mechanisms are still awkward and mediocre at best. Witcher 2 is excellent game because of its world and story, not so much for its game mechanisms.

If you've got a good internet connection (and unlimited bandwidth) you can download the game and try out the combat for yourself.

In my opinion, only the lore is the same. Everything else is different. Somehow I liked 1 better then 2... but that's a personal preference.

    I have to agree.

Witcher1 was a great game. Really a bargain for 1.59Euro.

On the other hand, witcher 2 was a total let down for me. A very bland, consol-ish game. More a movie than a game actually. I wouldn't even get it if it were available for 1.59Euro today. Unfortunately I bought it already in the past for much more money. My fault. :(

    Personal preferences, as you said.

Thx for the Hint @ OP!

Just got it even that i think i did not liked the Combat on K+M in the Demo back then. That might have changed also. We will see. Again, thx for pointing that out. And for 4,00€ you can't do anything wrong as well. image

Might have to take a look at this.

I just ordered Warhammer : Invasion from FFG the other day. They make some fun board & card games to be sure.

Yeah I'm downloading it but unfortunately weekends don't offer me a lot of time to play games so I won't get much more than 20 minutes or so to try it before the trial is over.
