    Sure combat is deep...

You can go deep inside an enemy because cheap ESO did not allow characters collision!

Is that really appealing or engaging?

If you are a Star Wars fan, why not try the Star Wars The Old Republic?

I agree the combat is  satisfying,  While the action bar is small, the choices you have to set it up are pretty massive.

I love the weapon skills, want to be a dual wielding sorc? Yupper no prob :)

Eso has good combat? What planet do you come from? The combat is horrible just like it is widely acknowledged to be in the rest of the series and pretty much ruins this title altogether since there's nothing to do outside of combat.

    Steam: Neph

Nothing to do outside of combat? Have you played this game beyond the introductory tutorial?

"Combat is better than expected". Hm, my question is : "What were ur expectations then ???"

The combat system is on par with games like Darkfall and Mortal Online... I really don't see how this could be any good at all ??

The only ONE good thing about ESO combat is sneak attacks. Rest is so generic, it existed in the 90s as well, just faster.

    You're a Hardcore Survivor!

You not only survived the zombie apocalypse, but did it with style! Your mastery of zombie knowledge, survival tactics, and weaponry is nearly unmatched. Congratulations, for you are hardcore!

Why would you even compare B&S combat to ES style combat. Combat has never been the strong point of any Bethesda games. If they changed it, we would have people go on about how it is not a true ES game.

Yet they did change the combat.

Elder Scrolls combat has from what I can remember always been FPS style.  You actually had to aim, and if you moved your cross hair away from the target it would miss.  Arrows didn't bend.

ESO is the new trend of soft-lock targeting.  Instead of your normal tab targeting you lock on through pointing your mouse at them.  Once you press 1 to cast that fireball, you can now move your mouse in any direction that dosn't break LOS and you hit.

Also adding in that you can't even use a skill unless you have a target locked on.  Its not even staying true to Elder Scrolls 'shitty' combat.  (I personally like ES combat but to each their own)

NDA is pretty annoying, cannot post anything meanful, this article seems like some attempt to be nice about the game. My impressions were completely diffferent from my own playthrough

Yeah I have to disagree as well, this combat system is completely pedestrian and easily exploited with how poor the AI is.

the last time i played TESO i think it was the second beta weekend they did and it was very very clunky and unpolished. Last night i decided to download it again and see what changed. I have to say that they improved it a lot. Combat is actually better than the beta i played a while ago. It is far from great but i hope they polish it more before launch, but its feels much better than before.

With that said,  third person running animations need more polishing and third person jumping animations are just plain disgusting and unpolished.... and i really hope they fix that before launch because we all know if they launch the game like that it will never be fixed.

Its still not worth a subscription in its current state but i would be willing to buy a box for the free month after launch if they stop the ¨any alliance any faction on preorder and CE¨ crap. Make it for everyone or dont make it at all because everyone has to pay the same price to play the game monthly.

Yea they changed the ranged combat to allow soft-lock. People are complaining mostly about the melee combat being not engaging and clunky and floaty. That's what i was referring to in my comment. The feel of the melee combat  remains the same as was in previous ES games. They added skills as people would bored out of their minds if it came down to Attack, Charge and Block in a MMO.

    And yes, it IS slow.

Combat altogether is clumsy, detached and has a horrible feeling about it.

What about you stop constantly picking out the things people criticize the most about the game and tell them in a "feature" that it isn't so?!

Sadly, o wholeheartedly agree with you. The combat felt quite cheep, detached, clunky. Awful in a word. World felt empty of ambiance. Heck, even Granny WoW has much better combat and much more lively world, especially revamped Vanilla and Pandaria.

Even tho I like how the world looks and how it feels. I gotta agree on the combat. I like it on the paper and the skill system is good imo, but the feel of combat is terrible.

    My thoughts exactly.

Ranged attacks can have advantages from being on the higher ground, why can't melee have advantages from body blocking opponents? Guess having a shield is once again something cosmetic.
