Looking for a game which is a hybrid between GW2 and SWTOR.

Hey guys,

As the title says, I've played both of the games and in both I found aspects I liked and aspects I didn't like so I'm trying to find an MMORPG which is kind of a hybrid of both

What I really liked in GW2 was how very collective it was in terms of players gathering together - like the events that takes large group of people not neccecarily in the same group or party in order to complete, so you could play with other players without neccecarily needing to know them or coordinate with them, but mainly just be with them together.

What I lack in GW2 and I do like in SWTOR is somehow challenging content, like the endgame raids of SWTOR that do require people to cooperate together in order to complete certain tasks, but not on the minimal cooperation level like in GW2 has but rather a  more advanced and demanding bosses and mechanics.

So yeh, from one side I do enjoy the groupless events in GW2 but from the other I do want some hard and challenging with mechanic events that appear in SWTOR and its assosicates, WoW i.e

Thanks everyone :)

Did you try the dungeons in GW2? Or did they make them easier somehow (I haven't played in a year)?

Dungeouns are piss-easy, except for maybe one (Arah) which is also quite easy

Fractals could be a bit challenging, but once you know them, it's again mostly tank and spank, and doesn't require real communication and team effort to complete

The biggest issue with GW2 is that everything for pve is made pretty easy by just having zerker gear with a good vigor trait. Everyone pretty much takes care of themselves.  There really is little need for tactics. Do not get me wrong there are a lot of good things about GW2. Group play is just not interesting imho.

Rift is pretty good. Have you tried that?

Haven't tried Rift, just read about it briefly, does it really offer what I'm looking for? combination of groupless activites with decent and challenging group-requiring end-game activities?

I thought Rift had great raids. So the end game challenge is there, however the leveling / groupless content was not what I liked (aka quest grind).

Your not going to find any harder than FFXI and it has been that way since the game came out. They also changed the game so you can solo a lot early on and there is Besieged 2x a day that brings the entire server together to defend the city of Aht Urghan from the invading Beastmen hordes.Unlike say a rift  where a few random people might be there,Besieged even after all these years still brings out lots of players.Besieged is level 75 content, max level is 99.

At higher levels pretty much 99 end game, there is a steady flow of tough content that is basically grinding for items to upgrade weapons and gear. The main drawback is people don`t shout much although does happen, you pretty much need to head out there and ask to get in on the Raids/Alliances.The other drawback is most the time they want a decently geared player to join,it all takes a lot of work, nothing comes easy in FFXI.

No other game has a Besieged like event as in FFXI.

FFXIV is basically the same thing with Fates, there is always a few other players to join in.FFXIV also has events that draw more attention and right now offer minion/pet rewards.Big difference is that FFXIV is not as hard as FFXI and more casual friendly and newer graphics.

You want content and challenge,Final Fantasy series offers it,no free handouts like other games.

ty all for the replies, so right now I guess it's down to ffxiv vs. Rift - from I understood ffxiv has both game price of $29 + monthly fee of around $15?

Its not out yet, but keep an eye out for Wildstar.

Also there is talk of the WoW expansion having open tagging (already present on the Timeless Isle).

Didn't they just 'recently' defend the decision to not have open tagging?
