Tegra Note 7 and tablet mmorpg gaming

NagilumSadowNagilumSadow Member UncommonPosts: 318

Given the fact the new nvidia Tegra Note 7 has a 72 core graphics engine and the overall tablet only costs $199 bucks U.S., will we see an interesting Android based mmorpg on the horizon?

The nanometer features of tablet processors like the tegra 4 are becoming very innovative and interesting, not to mention highly efficient platforms for gaming.

First, there already are some Android MMORPGs.

Second, if you want to play MMORPGs on a tablet, you want an AMD Temash based tablet.  That would be able to run the majority of the games listed on this site today, not just some hypothetical future games.

Third, if you want to game on a Tegra-based tablet, you want the upcoming Tegra 5, not the Tegra 4-based devices that you can get today.  That's a difference of about seven years worth of GPU architecture improvements.

I was couching the question more in terms of a thought experiment, rather than categorical imperatives. It's not about quantity, quality, relation or modality; rather as we move from 22nm features to 18, things should really get really interesting.

28 nm is the state of the art for logic circuits with the exception of Intel at 22 nm.  I haven't heard of any 18 nm process nodes in development for anything.  Intel is moving to 14 nm next, while everyone else seems to be looking for a short stop at 20 nm, then going to 16 nm (TSMC) or some weird hybrid of 14 nm and 20 nm (Samsung, Global Foundries, IBM).  The latter process nodes with the addition of FinFETs are when the really good tablets show up, but that's still two years away.  The CPU and GPU architectures are getting there, and will be ready before the process nodes are.
