I could talk about how i waited for this game for years, how intense it was months leading up to launch and checking that unofficial forum which it's name eludes me atm every day for any new tidbit, but we've all been through that together i guess. And as luck would have it when the launch week came after all that waiting, i had a trip planned with my gf and i completely missed the launch lol :) Ah, and GOA ofc, what a clusterf**ck for EU players :)

Farewell WAR, many memories have been had, good and bad, you had a special charm and will have a special place in many mmo gamers minds. But tbh, you manipulated our innocence a little bit back then ;) And what about that clown with white glasses, sheesh! Here's to the one of the biggest WoW-killers. I wish your devs wouldn't have moved to other games to infect them too.

I liked WAR. For the brief moment that I played it. It was my last MMO experience similar to that of which I felt when WoW launched. I made a lot of friends, none of whom I still have any contact with, but they're forever part of my memory.

The game was never really good. And that's what I think made it so fun for me. I had to make my own fun, I had to make friends and explore the world, and it all happened naturally. I suppose that's why I enjoyed WoW as well. But I could never in my life play another hotkey based MMO.

I cannot help but to feel sad to feel that the only nostalgic remnant of all those memories in their virtually corporeal form will perish. I would never play the game again, but it saddens me that I'll never have the option again.

This game had some good potential, except EA was pulling the strings, and in the true spirit of (their version of) quality games, it was released as a pile of buggy pooh, which initially hit the market hard, then fell sharply into the depths of MMORPG obscurity.

It seems EA needs more work on longevity, but to their credit, they have the hype train to drive day-one sales down to a science.

    RIP Warhammer Online!

So .. which EA game is going to be next  ..  :D

WAR had excellent potential, and was a fun PvP game as it was, but EA pulled the plug on all support less than a year after it launched.  They were short-sighted with this title.

I can only imagine what WAR would have looked like if they had supported it properly - a lot more fixes and changes, perhaps a couple of legitimate full expansions.  I think it would have been a different story.

Don't know if it would have still made enough money to make the license worth keeping, but it would have been a better game right now had they not abandoned it 5 years ago.

Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.

I know I'm in the minority, but WAR was the only game where I ever enjoyed PVP.  Going to miss it and I guess my PVP days are over.  Maybe ESO, will have decent PVP.  will have to wait and see how that one is.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

    I felt the same

WAR had for me the best pvp of any mmo. I hate pvp in mmos and almost never play it but in WAR it was almost the only thing I did. It was perfect! There is no mmo pvp that has even come close to the feel of it.

For me the buggy endgame killed the game for me which is a shame ;(

WAR PvP was fun but it wasn't balanced and no effin way was it perfect.

Damn damn shame. Wasted opportunity. Could have truly great but it seemed that they went so far and then they gave up during development.

I loved this game. Best PvP game around, with a great community.

Very sad here, after all it was a decent RvR game in a beautifully realised world.

A great shame that it hasn't gone FTP.

    Any private servers?

RIP Tome of Knowledge, one of the greatest features in MMO history wasted.

Should have been a huge success that lasted for years but between GW's interference, the power struggle going on with in Mythic and EA's mismanagement this fell flat on its face.. to me it felt like they tried to shoehorn DAOC2 into a Warhammer skin and did neither any justice.

They almost captured the essence of DAOC's rvr with the open pvp lakes but then failed hard with the city siege and scenarios.

RIP WAR... you never really had a chance

    "Pours a 40 on the curb ... "

I absolutely loved my Swordmaster. Loved it. Loved the art design, how it carried the sword, how it whipped it around to fight, loved the knock back; loved it.

My great disappointment came when I was finally in my first siege, and we took the fortress and suddenly the enemy was streaming down on us and we were holding them at the gates and suddenly someone said "what are we doing here? Just skirmishing? Let's go" and then everyone went to TAKE ANOTHER FORTRESS!.

It was at that point I realized that they were just for taking and not really "holding". No need to as the timer would run out shortly and it would be taken and we'd take it back. I guess.

I just let chaos swarm over my character as I had no will to go on.

So yeah. This is what it felt like ...

and I had no Sophie Marceau to comfort me...

All I have to say about it is I REALLY hope EA dies seriously what they did to mythic is ridiculous when it came to this game which easily could of been fixed a hundred times over and over. I do not touch EA games really after this and how bad SWTOR really was and is. Maybe if enough people stop supporting anything they touch over time they can be put right out of business like they deserve.
