I played Wulin for a couple of days, and left because PvP isn't really my thing, but the game itself was pretty cool and worth experiencing. There seems to be a lot of freedom in the game. And with skills you can level up like gliding, running up walls and on water, it adds to the feeling of said freedom. The combat felt kind of weird, not as fluid as I would have imagined. But that could just be me.

On the eternal quest for that one perfect MMO.

Simply put, the developer team who's running the Age of Wushu service has horrible latency issues with their servers and in a game that's about PvP and quick reaction times it sucks.

I think either is. Since launch Snail has put a lot of $$ into SnailUSA. I live in michigan and servers are in cali. My latency is 79. It used to be around 180. So if in the states imo, Wushu is the place to be. Now if you live in the EU, then yeah Wulin is the place to go. There is still a lot of EU playing NA, and NA playing EU though.

To be honest Neither game is worth playing right now.

Both wulin and Wushu have been bleeding players since day one and the companies that run the servers dont really care. Wulin is better but in the end its going down the exact same path that wushu is. In a few months Wulin is going to die just as wushu is dieing now and the new expansion(for wushu) will be the death of it. In order for players to level up they have to learn various inners and this expansion will add the 4th inner. Now for the 3rd and 4th inners you need items called certificates. The certificates are acquired by doing a weekly task which gives about 90-100 each week. For the 3rd and 4th inners you need 1800 and 2400 certificates respectively. In all honesty i dont know about the other servers but on Golden Kirin we just got our 3rd inner about a month ago, so no one on our server will be prepared for the launch of 4th with the massive amounts of certificates needed.

Also for 4th inner you need to spend about 4 months grinding tokens to be able to max it in addition to the certificates.

All this is in addition to the massive amounts of pay to win the server has. For example the top player on the Black Tortoise owns a casino and has every set in the game simply because he can convert real money to game money.

The gm's are a joke too, if you try to ask a question and they dont know or it points out a flaw in the game they will simply ignore you till you time out.

As i said before wulin may seem fine now but wushu seemed the same back around beta, so if you want to put in months worth of effort just to have it go down the drain go ahead, but you should atleast know what your getting into.

PS: My english isnt that great so sorry

School badges I think he's speaking of. Yes 3rd inner takes a lot, pretty sure 4th will too. You gain school badges for things like school war and spy missions. There is nothing to spend them on except internals. There's 2-4 months between internals depending on which server you play. In that time you should be able to collect enough, if you don't choose to sell them. If you don't have enough you can buy them. I predict 4th internals taking about 3 months to cultivate.

In Wushu there will always be people more powerful than you, people you are more powerful than. In the game, I can see things moving towards no obtainable "max level" more so point you strive for. From a straight character building standpoint some interesting things are going on with the Jianghu (out side of school, worldly) internals.

A player starting today could pick a direction and arrive around there, around this time next year. That a pretty cool mmorpg design in this day and age of 3 week to cap mmos.

Depends on what you're looking for I guess.

I personally found it to have a lot of potential which was utterly ruined by their implementation of their skill system.

It's like EvE except Capitals, Battleships and Cruisers are all equally fast and accurate as frigates. Meaning your second internal is mostly just a straight upgrade from your first. Progression seems mostly vertical.

Which in turn means that the vast majority of players you face are either above or below you. Half your battles you won't have to bother blocking at all, either your enemy is far enough above you that they'll do more damage than you even through blocks or they're far enough below you that they don't do enough damage regardless of whether or not you block.

Which to me made PvP rather dull. Ganking newbies who don't stand any chance or being ganked by veterans against whom you don't stand any chance might be fun if it's a side course but in my experience with Wushu it seemed to be the main course.
