Pyramids of Waste (2010) also known as "The lightbulb conspiracy" (53min) is a documentary about how the US economic system based on consumerism and planned obsolescence is breaking our planet down.

The throw-away lifestyle from the 1950s US growth economy (built around advertising + planned obsolescence + credit) is a contradiction in a world of limited resources.

Businesses wouldn't need to do this if the corporate tax wasn't so damn high.

Companies can no longer stay in business due to government regulation and taxation. Then we blame them when they try and find other ways to remain profitable.

I read about this. It is quite a shame. Many things could last much, much longer.
