Not sure if that's you or not doing the review.  The guy seemed really hung up on it being D&D which to him is suppose to be an epic game, despite I would argue the opposite...for whatever reason I feel its impossible to D&D to be any where as epic as it should be.  Also he keeps pointing out how its indy this and indy dev that...its perfectworld owned...that's not indy.  they didn't need kickstarter other than the owners of cryptic (PWI) are notoriously cheap and money grubby (hence $40 mounts)

    Regardless.

I does seem overly focused on what the game does wrong from the point of view of a D&D table top die hard...I think most players are interested on if its fun ect...which it seems like it could be for an ARPG type game with absolutely  no loot to farm...

I certainly wont touch any game with the PWI stamp on it..even if it is free.

I have to agree with this.

Neverwinter simply is not what it "should" be in regards to its story and play.

This game should have the depth of Neverwinter Nights with the action gameplay platform it provides.

But really it's fucking boring grind, no open world pvp. It's a faceroll borefest.

It's really sad. I was SUPER excited about Combat when I first started. Then it never gets past that right direction part, like the reviewer says. It never really GETS anywhere.

Pardon my low tolerance for stupidity.

Yep, that was my intention as well. And I love p'n'p D&D (up until 3.0), so I could even agree with him, but Neverwinter is only a fun, action-mmo, and never was intended to be a NWN or a D&D implementation - or maybe it is, as I've heard 4.0 sucks big time :)

While I'm not on HiveLeader's payroll (honest), I think his version was much more spot-on... True, HL made it only from the beta version, but I'm sure that this guy's review can't be much more recent either, since the loot mechanics were changed many updates ago, and there was a price drop too (he referred on both as a negative aspect of the game). Oh, and he escorted Dorothea in a very lame fashion :) I mean, I have only a low-level TR, but his gameplay... oh boy.

So, in a quick, tl;dr style, check this review instead :)

Dungeons (= open world?) and dragons.

Perhaps I am missing the concept of D&D but to me I lost interest in the "review" because I personaly seem to have a very different view on D&D or what a D&D MMO would be. Neverwinter seems fitting with plenty of room for improvements just not sure how much "open world" a D&D MMO should have to still be D&D.

But as said I could be wrong about my own perception and experiance with playing D&D game, perhaps playing them entirely different then I should have and actually seeking that open world??

It depends how much effort your DM put into the PnP game. It had whole open worlds you could adventure in, but if he just stuck you in a dungeon and started rolling dice I could see how you'd think the game was just a dungeon crawl type of game.

Neverwinter is a small city in the corner of a very big world....and interesting world. That game does not do it justice.
