PS4 release

Dcuo is one of the games available for PS4 at release day... They promise a lot of new content.

but what will this mean for the PC version of the game will that also get all the new stuff

when i read this article, it shows me that current itteration of the game on PS3 prevents them from improving the game as they are bound by hardware boundaries.  with PS4 hardware things become much better, as there suddenly is major room for improvements.

Probably not much, except perhaps an influx of players.

There are things that the PC client could handle and the PS3 couldn't, that the PS4 can. Better graphics and more people in one place would be primary considerations. However:

    * Not everyone will instantly transition. There still needs to be a playable PS3 version.
    * They won't be going too divergent between versions. It's one thing to have different graphic settings between downloads for different platforms. But there won't be an instance that exists on some versions but not on others. It's just not worth the confusion, complaints, and risk of bugs. So there won't be any 40-person instances where the building falls down around you. Not while the PS3 needs to be maintained.
    * A major overhaul is very expensive, and not nearly as rewarding with new users as a new launch. Consider another SOE product: Planetside 2. It was only released last year, was always intended for the PS4, and doesn't have to support the PS3. And yet they're spending half of 2013 doing nothing but "optimizing" so the game will run faster. To take an older game that's already entrenched and expect that kind of work isn't realistic.

So it will be nice if the game brings new people to DCUO, but don't expect much change in play or design from what's there now.

    Currently playing:
    DC Universe
    Planetside 2
    Magic Online
Simunomics, the Massive Multiplayer Economic Simulation Game. Play for free.

    Best thing...

It will be ftp on the PS4 too(comparable to the PC payment model) ..  And with only a few titles at release, this might actually work good for them and drawm new peoples attention.

According to Liberty, the bulk of Update 31 focuses on preparing DCUO for its impending PS4 launch.

Changes include graphics upgrades like higher resolution textures and area redesigns, along with a "remastering" of the core leveling experience.

Leveling from 1-30 has seen special attention; Liberty noted that new players should see a smoother progression of content with less chance of being stuck without a mission.

Update 31 is tentatively scheduled for a November launch on PC and PS3. The game's PS4 release is still on track to match up with the console's release window.

Anyone know if this is getting a same release day release with the PS4 in Europe? Cause if it is, I may get my PS4 on release day.

(DCUO) is absolutely going to be available when the PS4 launches on November 15 in the US,and the team is targeting 1080p at 60 frames per second.

The subscription model will still be the same, but Andersen teased a bonus for fans who have PlayStation Plus, though the details of that perk still haven't been finalized.
