Darkfall-like game? Full-loot, open-pvp? ;D

Is there any game similar to Darkfall? With the same systems and features? I used to play it before the "Unholy Wars" and I really liked it, but quit when I heard it was relaunching and they were wiping everything. I've heard bad things about it, though. "Aventurine is a scam company" and such. Is there any other game similar?

 

And also, how is Darkfall doing? I don't want to start playing again and they have to wipe or shut down....again. -_-

    I wouldn't even bother with Unholy Wars. The game is on its death bed. They still haven't even came out with all the class roles yet and the balance between them is ridiculous. 70% of the server play warriors. Watch some videos and you will notice almost everyone is warrior.  AV is seriously dragging their feet when it comes to updates and community relations in general. Cheats run rampant in the game and the GMs have no idea who is or isn't really cheating. They delete hundreds of threads on the official forums because they speak about negative aspects of DF, and AV doesn't like that.

    Aye. I guess I won't be returning to Darkfall. :P Any similar games? I know that there's a lot of new sandboxes coming sooner or later, should I just wait for those? ArcheAge looks very promising to me. I love the ship battles and open world housing, just like Darkfall.

    nothing similair on the market.. maybe fallen earth.. its f2p.. aim to shoot.. mix orso..

     

    I was darkfall player aswell for 4 years.. till they shutt it down.. and came with uw which i played for 3 hours.. yes its that bad..

     

    Currently waiting till end of year for black desert.. that might come close.. koraeon server tho..

    Mortal Online its not perfect but its your best bet.

    If you were new to Darkfall I would highly recommend DFUW.  I've really enjoyed the game and game world...the community is a bit too PvP based for my tastes but I'm having fun anyway.  As you are a DF1 vet, they all seem to hate this game...guessing you will too.  DF1 people almost universally seem to hate this game for it not being DF1, so you may want to avoid.

     

    There are no other games like DF out there, sorry OP.  If you think you won't jump off a bridge about DFUW not being DF1 you may give it a try.

    I love Darkfall.  There is nothing out currently that you can compare to Darkfall.  I feel MO is inferior and a poor quality substitute to UW.  UW is a lot more new person friendly than the old Darkfall as well.  AV is consistantly adding stuff but not as fast as everyone wants.  If you havent already tried it make sure you play EvE.

    Darkfall has nothing to do with a sandbox

    Mortal Online is, as others have said, a sandbox game.   It has a lot going for it if you're the right kind of person.  ok PVE and PVP, a deep crafting system and a lot of other nice things.

    If people saying "Aventurine is a scam company"  and things like that turn you off though Mortal Online isn't going to be very different.  There are a lot of people who love the game but there are many who hated it and are quite vocal about that, especially around here.  

    The problem is complicated by the fact that even those of us who love it have to admit the company that runs it is far from competent.  Many game bugs persist months or years beyond what should be reasonable and the company constantly prioritizes things the majority of the playerbase do not care about over things that are truly hurting the game.

    All that said -- if you are looking for a game of this type it is a much better game than WOW, SWTOR, RIFT, or any of the countless games which are pretty much the same bad game from a vantage point more like my own.

    Although, I always gotta say.  If you don't require a fantasy setting -- EVE Online is decades ahead of the rest of the genre when it comes to sandbox.  Unlike Mortal it has few bugs, balance is workable, and its just a very clean product.  You won't log in to find your banker standing on the roof.  But if you don't mind the occasional banker on the rooftop, MO can be a very rewarding game.

    I think I'll give MO another shot. I tried the free trial a while ago and I remember it not running too well on my computer. Maybe I'll just have to mess with the graphics options. And I couldn't get into Eve. I know it's supposed to be this amazingly fantastic game, but I was just turned off by it. I enjoy the fantasy, I guess. Thanks for all the help. <3

    Dont feel bad I dont see why everyone thinks Eve is so great either......Spinning around in a tin can clicking on stuff wasn't my idea of fun.......MO is OK...I think its better if you pay than if you play for free, but you have to at least try the free option first.

    Sad that MO and DF:UW are the only choices (except EvE of course) for games like this.. I know there are plenty of open pvp full loot games but OP knows what I mean.. MO so buggy and DF:UW is a failure opposed to DF 1. Sad.. MO sucks.. DF:UW let down.. But i'll be following this thread to see what comes up. Maybe someone knows something I don't. I'd love to find a game.

    The new Darkfall is doing a lot better than the original did. It's also much better designed.

    They haven't had to shut down in 5 years, and they're opening in another country soon, so no, it's not going to shut down.

    AV is FAR from a scam company.

    DFUW is about a thousand times better than the original in almost any way. What are you on about?

    WURM ONLINE... A real true sandbox, not that bullshit AV tried to say DF was... I played DF from first beta and was in UW beta as well. Same crap.

     

    Wurm online has full loot pvp, real sandbox content and real territory controlled by kingdoms.

    Ultima online, best option and free, then mortal online and or DFUW. OR! wait... companies seem to be liking the sandbox feel now, and are developing quite fast. We will soon see this as a new hyped model that all game industries will make. time will tell.
