Okay, here's a question for folks that I have been wondering about.
1. Did you play any MUD's before moving onto graphical MMOG's? If so, which one and what was the genre?
2. Do any of you still play MUD's AND graphical MMOG's. If you do, what keeps you going back to MUD's?
I'll answer my own post here to get it rolling....
1. The first online game I ever played was back around 1995. It is a mud called Gemstone 3 which is still around today, it is a commercial mud and I played it first on AOL. It is deep fantasy with all the typical races, lots of magic and lots of fun
2. I do still play muds, probably more than I play MMOG's. What keeps me going back is that level of interaction that is created when reading text; your mind creates the fantasy instead of interpeting the graphics presented to you.
I'd hate to die twice. It's so boring
