Seriously - what's the reason behind this?

bug found that crashed the server mos tlikly or a bad error popped up normal release not a big deal unless they arent stable by the 27th

Well the fact the World list won't even generate for EU/NA servers means they have a bit more than a world problem.

didnt that happen after the servers where going to go down for maint

    Just curious...

na the na/eu sevres are much newer thant he jp servers we didnt have them till phase 3 the jp servers had them from alpha

they are probly a bit diffreant. optimizations are pretty good on them but there still a few kinks to work out it seems

I for one am not going to give any excuses .It is what it is. I want to play the game so every thing that happens short of me completely losing my character is okay I will handle it because I want to play and like the game. I may cry about stuff but am not giving up on the game. Long time since I found a game I am interested in like this. Hoping to stay for awhile on this game.

    Let me explain.

The duty finder was bugging out and I saw some people even whining on chat. Some people are too lazy to walk themselves near the dungeon and ask for a party there like we did in the past but wanted to be teleported there.

Japanese people are pretty known by people that they prefer old school mmorpgs and I can say for sure there are more grinding groups in their servers then in all of ours combined.

Japanese people are not going to rage and whine because they can't be hand held to the dungeon, they will ask and join a group.

(Like I said some people not everyone but that's probably why only NA/EU servers have been put down on maintenance because some people probably ignored the system announcement that SE was spamming and kept on trying to use the duty finder and raging.)

You must be one of those "fan boys" I fought with on shout chat.

No duty finder - no dungeons.  Period.  You have to use it, so your post is utter nonsense.  I spent a full hour forming various groups (4 man) to get into dungeons.  I spent time trying to figure out if the dungeons required a certain class mix even if you were in a 4 man.

All of that was pointless, the system didn't work.

    Nonsense.

Yeah it is nonsense. The difference is simple, even if you try to copy server architecture and all of the code it wont be 100% the same. In addition they most likely used different configurations optimized for their customers and location and that small difference was enough to have one cluster of servers show a specific bug while the other did not.

Why defend them?  They had a VERY LONG testing phase to figure out their core functions.  It has nothing to do with your post, they simply weren't prepared for the onslaught of early access.  Poorly managed.

On the positive side, they acknowledged the problem, took down the servers, and are applying a fix right now.

Folks were asking in chat for dungeons. The MAIN problem is that no duty finder no class or main regional storyline quests.

People could not advance thier classes. That is a sizable bug and required a fix.

It had been going on for an hour, I would guess they couldn't do a hot fix so they took it down for a (hopefully) decisive fix.

It worked perfectly fine in B4 (at least for me). Bugs will always appear and crashes will always happen. I don't defend them, I just expect something like this, especially during early access or first weeks of release, but often even after that.

I'm not a fanboy but go ahead.

It's possible to form parties it's just some people are new, some don't seem to read chat, some prefer joining/waiting till duty finder does it for them, etc etc.

I was exaggerating on purpose about that being the reason for only EU/NA needing to go on maintenance.... I thought the humour was implied.

Correct, you could form parties or grinding (mobs or FATES).  However, the unfortunate thing is that the duty finder is required for instances even if you made your own party.

Hence my confusion about your post.  However, that is the reason why they took down all of the EU/NA servers.  They are fixing that issue.

They sent out a message on the live servers about there being maintenance from 10am PDT till 11am PDT and to please log out before it begins.

I forgot I'm on CST, and it was 10:21am at the time.

Naturally I /shouted How does one log out before it begins if it began 21 minutes ago?!

    I get Connection Lost message.

    Coincidence or malevolent GMs.

I personally feel any experienced gamer should be prepared for rocky starts in newly released (or I guess in this case re-released) mmos. It's just how things go. Things break. Best laid plans are doomed to fail.

I want to thank the drama llamas on this occasion, as always, for keeping my spirits up with laughter in this time of maintenance.

Just get it patched and fixed and all will be well.  I was having a ball playing this morning, I see this as a needed lunch break :-)

    Momo sucks, I have proof.

If you haven't watched "Sword Art Online" or "Summer Wars" yet.... you could do that during the down time.

Best animes I've watched in a long time, and they are both about an mmo

The game was up for 6 hours before the servers shut down for emergency maintenance.  We are assuming it is to fix the two probems people were having (duty finder and instances).  While there are people that argue the game should be bug free by now and complaining that the game is bad because the servers are already having emergency maintenance.  I for one think it is great that they are addressing the issues so quickly.  Would we rather the servers stay up today and bugs not be addressed for days, weeks, or months?  People who have experience with very many MMO launches are aware that launches very rarely run smoothly. Even for those who say "everything went great at the launch of [game x]," just because your experience was great doesn't mean it went smoothly for everyone.  I logged in at 4am central this morning, I had to log in a 2nd time because I got an error message but I just figured it was because I'd tried to early and the servers weren't completely up yet.  I had logged out at the end of beta 4 by the botanist guild so I wouldn't be trying to log in at the starting spot which I figured would be crazy.  I headed north and only saw one other player on my way.  No lag as I chopped enough trees to hit level 10.  I saw a few more players as I made my way back to the botanist guild to get level 10 quest.  Then I switched back to archer....which meant I needed to go to central for several of my quest.  It was then that I hit the crowd of people and started experiencing lag.  The one time I experienced a disconnect error, I was able to log right back in.  For the most part, I could say that early release went smoothly for me.  But does that mean I'm not well aware of the fact that other people are experiencing issues?  Does that mean I'm not well aware that I could have easily experieced waiting and may still experience waiting when I try to log back in later?  My server was one of those that was declared full during beta 4 so I was VERY aware of issues that would occur in early release.

I've played almost every mmo launch since DAoC.  Every game has problems.  Some a lot more than others.  Vanguard was bug ridden to hades and back.  However, the core gameplay and classes were fun.  I don't expect any game to be 100%.  The NA/EU servers haven't been tested as long as the JP servers, and they have never been under this much load as today.

I normally give a game 1-3 months to get major fixes completed after launch.  If we still see tons of normal gameplay bugs, then I move on to something else.  That doesn't mean I never come back.  I gave 1.0 2 months of play and here I am back again.
