Anyone else think landmark will be fun all on its own?

the girlfriend and I are both thinking Landmark will be a fun time killer even if we don't get any of our stuff used in EQN. The chance to explore and build in those awesome landscapes could keep us busy for ages...Be interesting to hear what the panel discussions reveal about EQN and landmark.

As popular as Lego and Minecraft are? Yes, I think Landmark will be fun on its own.

Depends how much there is to it.

It sounds like there's going to be some game to it, not just fiddling with building and that's it.   I think you have to collect materials and stuff too.

If it's this creator with building, crafting, harvesting, and socializing, funny enough that could be the sandbox game people always wanted just standalone.

Seems like we'll have quite alot of freedom already in landmark, I have no doubt that it will be quite an experience.

Yeah, throw in a few hobbies(fishing, etc.), some mobs and a decent crafting system and t could be the wurm/minecraft I've wanted.  Here's hoping we get more info from the panels.  I'm really interested to see how crafting is gonna work.

    No, and that's just me.

GW2, hated puzzles and 1980's video games. Would have rather had mounts and fishing. Crafting sucks.

Neverwinter, (mostly because of the F2P Crap) Crafting is a waste of time. F2P is stealing our in game carrots... Nothing to Earn... No reason to play... I don't want to buy something... I would rather achieve it.

Is this going to happen with EQN as well?

    Greed is killing MMORPG's.

Need a kick ass MMO with a Sub... Let the players earn their rewards, not buy them.

So to answer your question. I'm not looking for crap to do on the side. I'll take this back all the way to City of Heroes. I thought the game was just fine until everything changed. I hope they made millions before pulling the plug.

We are getting taken advantage of. If these games are truly next gen... then show us now before we have to lay a penny down.

Show me everything EQN, WS, ESO and FFXIV have to offer in all areas before I have to do anything... enough of the HYPE. Enough of the boring story lines....

And enough of the F2P crap... it's one stop shopping for the developers now... make a quick buck and split...

With that said. I know deep down inside someone will give us the next BIG MMORPG... next week or 10 years from now... it will happen. Until then I am not spending a dime on anything... and if the game makes me feel obligated to spend Real LIFE CASH when they say it's F2P... They can stick it where the sun don't shine!

Landmark most likely won't be my thing, but I know some people who are going to spend HOURS there.  I'm more interested in crafting.

It's almost like Landmark itself will have to be two products.

One as an efficient content creation tool, and one as a sandbox world.

It doesn't make sense for them to force their elite content creation community members to forage for food, scour Norrath for rare materials, or fight off monsters to generate their content.

But a lot of us (eg, you and me), want a Norrath-themed Wurm Online.  And they've already described it as a "game" with exploration and resource harvesting (and hopefully monsters to deal with).

So I see multiple "server modes" in the future.

I'm sure many will enjoy it, I also like what such a offering does for development as well. They'll see first hand what players are doing with their software, in turn they will have greater knowledge of what to expect (deal with) in the future game.

No, I suspect it will be like playing Ebay Next.

That was my one disappointment of the entire presentation.  The Landmark game concept seems very good.  The selling of your creations for real world cash makes it a virtual nightmare.  Can only imagine getting 8,000 shouts and private tells a minute along the lines of...

Selling Pink towers.Cheap, only $23 each!!!

Discount archways and moats, go to www.We_Sell_EQN_Garbage.com!!!

Buy our castles!!!  Small $50, medium $75, large $100.  OMGZ, no better deals anywhere!!

So you might say, "ok, you don't like it, stay away from Landmark".  Only thing is, you don't think that kind of garbage is going to infect the "regular" EQN servers?  Think again.   Gets me more disappointed the more I think about how this one concept will ruin the whole thing for me.

I think it sounds fun to play around with now that I've seen a bit better description of what it is.  But, I like to do the building thing, so that alone would be fun.  Creating stuff is always fun.  Add in the chance of getting your work put into the live game and that could be some incentive to make exotic and fun stuff.

If it's a type of game where I have to run around harvesting crap just to mess with the build-tools though, that would just be annoying and tedious and I'd lose interest.  I'd rather save all that effort and time for the real MMO.

If the resource gathering is like SWG, then I think it will be fun.

I didn't care for the combat in SWG, Pre CU or NGE, but I played the game just for the crafting and

trying to find the hot new resource that spawn during server reset.

I'm interesting to hear about the resource gathering...Any info out there about it yet?
