Question about classes

I figured I'd give this a shot for a couple weeks. I haven't played a MMO in a year. My question is, "Is there an overabundance of certain classes and are other classes needed?" I just feel a large amount of people will go rogue and great weapon class

Yes, there a tons of people still playing the game.
As with most MMO's, I would guess the most sought after classes are healers and tanks. Flip side, or course, being if a group already has those classes they don't need a second.
Zone chat is such a mess that I don't really pay much attention to what people are looking for the most, though I do see DC's (Devoted Clerics) sought out fairly often, but I see all the classes sought out specifically at times. It all depends on the makeup of the group. All classes bring something to the group.
If you are planning on joining a guild, start a class that you think you will like, join a guild, and then ask what they need the most. That may help.
