But do you SERIOUSLY think they would make SWTOR anything like SWG.....now known as one of the biggest FAILURES of MMO history???  REALLY?

You fools should stick of PLAYING video games and leave MAKING them to people with a clue.

The 'people with a clue' came up witjh SWTOR.

    Now do you get it?

I enjoy SW:TOR.  The game has issues, but I will play as long as I think things will improve.  Why does that bother people like you?  Why do you make a point to belittle people who enjoy a game you do not?

Just want to see if I can get the thread back on track a bit. I for one am happy for you that you like the game. To be honest though your first post was bellicose in tone, so I'm not sure how you can attack and then retreat into a Don't be Mean position.

The trials and death of SWG seem to be ineffective as far as keeping poeple from posting suggestions that are either straight from SWG (player bounties), or were a generic feature that SWG had as well.

I wasn't attacking you personally, but you are one of many that are on a mission to destroy this game.  It got old weeks ago.  SWG is gone.  Accept it....I did years ago.  Just because this game has Star Wars in the title, doesn't mean it has to be the same as SWG.  Play/like it....or don't.

I personally can't stand Star Trek Online.  Do I go on that forum and shove that opinion down people's throats?  Nope.  What would be the point of that?  And why would someone checking that forum for game info or to talk about the game they enjoy want to read about how much I hate that game?

I focus on things I enjoy.  I ignore things I do not.  I guess I am in the "silent majority" of this community...

Thank you for the explanation, and I do appreciate the civility.

Personally I am over the fact that SWG is gone. I'm not going to forget it existed, but I am firmly adjusted to the reality that the game is gone and is not coming back.

I really dont think adding those elements will destroy the game. I don't think you are going to get people turning down invites to do EV because of day/night cycle, etc. I also don't beleive there is any way to turn SWTOR into SWG. Other than the Star Wars IP they have so little in common.

    so

I'm going to take option 3: Play it, and not like it so much until it changes.

Additionally, I'm a bit confused as to how having the desire for what I see as improvements is an aggressive act such as "shoving my opinion down someone's throat." Can you accept the evidence that there are indeed people out there who just don't like SWTOR, and others who are unhappy with it but experience the tension of wanting to like it? If everyone on the forums agreed there would be no point in having this site. Companies can do their own advertising just fine.

Finally, If you are in the silent majority then there is nothing to worry about, and the negative folks are simply ranting in a corner. A silent majority = complaint free income, so if that is the case you and Bioware have nothing to worry about.

I was one of the few that actually enjoyed the PVE Bounties in SWG. It was redundant and every mark was standing on some planet in the middle of nowhere, but I still liked doing it. Whenever it was working right( mark not standing in a wall or swimming in the ocean) the high marks would give you a run for your money.

I have a problem with your avatar.

That engine probably runs real well and doesn't require a rebuild.

Anyone think BW will isten and actually implement things like player bounties, real player housing, chairs you can sit in, multi-player vehicles, open worlds, real space game?

I think it would be too much work for a game with a shrinking population that was designed on rails.

Yea I agree.  I think you can look toward what WoW offers its playerbase as features SWT

They won't be able to out-WoW World of Warcraft. SWTOR will have to adapt or lose everyone but the "target audience" (Star Wars fans who love WoW and who play for only a few hours in a week). That may be a sizeable crowd don't get me wrong, but they will have trouble keeping any kind of longevity with the current design.

The BW Propaganda division is quite good, and I could see the New Content Video making the rounds in 6 months, 1 year, 2 years. Cue TOR music, show characters from camera angle not available in the game: cut to the ultra suave Georg Zoeller, "In Star Wars the Old Republic, players now have the ability to have their characters become one with the force at endgame. This frees up character slots to play new alts and gives the player the feeling of being a character in the Star Wars universe."

This may be more fitting. Even shows rails and a lot of people with no clue how to fix it.

Couldn't resist and is totally worth the troll warning I'll get.

The best suggestion for SWTOR is to make it f2p. Period

it might even reverse the declining population problem.. at least until they introduce a cash shop for crafting materials etc etc. and then they could probably just bury it like they did swg, and earth and beyond.image

15 minute load screens? Yikes. The only long load screen I remember was when I would first log in. After that it was usually fine when I planet hopped.

Yeah I had a bad computer. I had to look down in Coronet Spaceport because of the poor framerate. It would take so long to load in, that sometimes my bounties had already skipped to another world lol.

    ta. i try.

it gave me a giggle for five minutes.

in all honesty, i feel sad for swtor. it had so much promise. and i agree they need to add so many more functions into the game to make it more of an mmo. i only played swg for a month or so, so i'm unsure what functions to take from that. i felt the game was pretty normal mmo fare from the minimal time i spent in it. i possibly missed something?

but swtor. man. i had really been looking forward to it right up until the moment when they decided not to release it in australia. and we got no warning. when i did get into the game, i admit to being very underwhelmed, but the one thing i think everyone should take from it is the story idea. it shows you CAN integrate it into an mmo. just that you should never use it as the focus of an mmo. as an experiment it was fine. i wish they'd done it with a baldur's gate mmo instead, though.

for me, what this game should take from swg is some of the star wars. to be brutally honest, if you took out lightsabers, you wouldn't know you were playing a star wars game.

Thats some crappy comp you must have had. You were lucky to play SWG at all

I never had loading screens that took that long.

15/20 seconds was about the longest.

Was only ever a real problem when I was SF or in a Guild War and was loading into Nyms

Well the problem over there seems to be the SWTOR purists who campaign on the forums for 'No Change to our Game.' You can't even talk about other content without it turning into a contest of insults. Not sure what the big fear is, are they going to unsub if you add a day/night cycle to the game? There are no invasive features that you could realistically add to the game, so I am left thinking that they fear that more stuff will just break the game engine, or the devs hearts or something.

I am pretty sure this is the correct place to post this for star wars fans, well here I go again, same message different forum!

I recently found out that Disney and EA will be working on the new star wars projects as Lucas Arts has stepped back.

With that said, and I dont know if this would be even considered with SW TOR but maybe for the next game. I created something known as a rain saber, short for rainbow lightsaber. I just want to get as much exposure to this idea as possible because if the right people might see it they might actually design it in game.

Here are some shots I edited and made for trying to support this theory, essentially it would be nice to be in a star wars game where you can obtain all abilities from every jedi ranking class, sentinel, padawan, guardian, etc.

Well with a multi colored lightsaber, it could represent many abilities you possess and/or ranking. It was just a cool idea I have been wanting to see in star wars games for a while. If the images are too hard to see checkout my Deviant Art Page, a lot of the images are for sell due to taking many hours of dedicated hard work, thanks for your time!
