Edward Snowden

This ordeal should be a real eye opener for everyone.

The American government is very corrupt and sneaky,i doubt anyone would disagree on that point.

This Snowden case is being made to sound like espionage, when instead the USA government should be under extreme scrutiny. The USA government likes to use terms like "classified" and "home land security" to break their own laws and disrespect their own people. What scares me is other similar employees might now be fully spied on to make sure they are kept quiet.

They have no right to spy on their own people ,invading their privacy, basically entering people's houses and private lives. These are the same people the government spends trillions of dollars on war efforts ,they claim to be protecting.

So in other words ,we are protecting you by spying on you and invading your privacy.Try doing that to a government official, you will end up in prison. How about letting the people know it is going on,oh ya espionage..lol.You are our people that vote us in but you have no right to know we are spying on you.

I am glad this guy is getting away and i hope the Government comes under a ton of scrutiny by all media outlets.

They need to start treating the people that vote them in with respect and start giving them medi care instead of building warships and tanks and guns and nuclear technology and SPYING.Build homes and feed the poor,do like you PRETEND to be claiming you do and that is helping the people. It seems governments have long forgot why they are in power,it was to serve the people, not to abuse them and disrespect them.

I like a lot of USA people but the government can be blown off the earth for all i care.Just imagine how much information there is on the government that is still unknown. This Snowden guy once touch downs in a safe environment i am sure will let us in on a lot more,a lot more the people have the right to know. The USA is the people's country,it is NOT the government's play ground.

Realistically politics is a team sport.  According to a poll, there is a 30% change in the view on the NSA purely based on who is president.  That being democrats went from a 40% approve to a 70% approve, while republicans went from a 60% approve to a 45% approve purely based on the president.

Snowden broke multiple very serious laws, the NSA did not

The NSA is not spying on the public, nor are they invading people's privacy. Look at what they are actually doing before making accusations like that.

Frankly, there is a very long list of things about the US government I would change in a heartbeat if I could, but this case is not remotely worth worrying about.

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

He's pretty much screwed at this point no matter what. He had enough public support to have helped him some because of peoples knee jerk reaction.  Doesn't really matter at this point.  His intentions don't matter even if he wasn't going to put everything out there as he claims.  He went about it totally wrong. Word is China got a hold of everything and copied all of it.   Now he's in Russia and no doubt they will do the same before letting him leave. Can't blame them. Guy on the run toting around classified material? Hell ya..

He wants to run to a mud hut somewhere out of the public eye?  Yeah.. Have fun.. Depending on what he has exactly that seems pretty dangerous. If the  NSA were prying into peoples lives as he's made people believe, they would of picked up Snowden's online history which has been coming to light.

There is a lot of hate from the international community about this, at least politically.

You just need to think about how the Internet works to understand why it's a big deal.  Essentially when you say Internet you're talking about a bunch of very independent networks that have agreed that it's a good idea to let information travel between themselves.   However it's not free someone needs to own and maintain the cables between the networks, so to transfer data it has a metered cost.   Which means that data will tend to travel on whatever path it is cheapest to do so.

Also not every network connects to every other network.   Which means there are some stupid edge cases where data will travel out of a country then back to get to some parts.  Now lets say you have somewhere that is really really well connected to the world.  Further lets say that country gets revealed to having laws and means to record all data entering and leaving the country.  You'll understand why the International community won't let such a topic die, even after the media lets it die.

That's before you take into account all the Internet services based in the US.   Which makes it a more frightening topic for the International community.

Practice doesn't make perfect, practice makes permanent.
