Hi, I'm looking around for a good set of speakers, nothing crazy as I'm living in a apartment, but I'm hoping to find a good set for $100-200. Preferably one with no sub woofer, but it doesn't really matter. Let me know, thanks!
Edit: I was looking at something like this maybe: http://www.amazon.ca/Creative-GigaWorks-Multimedia-BasXPort-Technology/dp/B001RNOHDU/ref=sr_1_57?ie=UTF8&qid=1370028313&sr=8-57&keywords=speakers

I use the Bose Companion 2 speakers and they sound great. Not a ton of bass but definitely really good clarity and sound quality. I think I paid $99 for them a year or so ago.

In your price range and what you are asking for its best to look for a premium bookshelf speaker. The Computer Speakers are "Good enough" quality. But with your budget you can get something from Bose, Polk, Sony, JBL, or Boston Acoustics. For the most part these speakers should be great.
This one covers the whole range of audio levels the human ear can hear. If you go this route you will also need a receiver.

I really love the Eagle Arion line http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=eagle+arion
I have them in my office and my wife uses them in her office where she is an executive in the music industry. The woofer in non-obtrusive and the quality is way above it's price point. I am using them to replace my bose system and it's very rich sounding.
The Creative Gigaworks 20 you linked are actually pretty nice for a no-sub 2.0 set. But that Amazon.ca price of $174 is outrageously bad.
Get them here instead for $99: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=42553&vpn=51MF1610AA002&manufacture=Creative%20Labs
NCIX ships from either BC or Ontario and thet're quick and reliable.
Edit: actually even cheaper at newegg.ca... $88: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16836116043&nm_mc=OTC-sho6b0tCA&cm_mmc=OTC-sho6b0tCA-_-Speakers-_-Creative+Labs-_-36116043

Absolutely LOVE them.
I would also suggest getting a decent soundcard as well.

I have been very happy with my Audioengine A2s. I use them as you would, to have some decent music in my apartment, and I'm pretty sure they are the best of what's listed here. They hit your budget roof.

You can get them in black or white, and they are small sexylooking realthings, making paper blow of your table. Which you are probably going to spend some time doing.
