"Hide Helmet"
Very few things frustrate me in a MMO more than this option not being in it, lol. It'd be OK, if for some reason Devs could make cool Helmets.
Not sure why they can make badass armor, weapons, enemies, world locations, ect, but then when it comes to Helmets...ugh.

Now you understand that "hiding your helmet" does come with a corresponding 25% penalty to armor class... Well, unless you're in my realm and then its OK.
Out in RvR I hope helms aren't give an option to be hidden. How you appear in combat should be EXACTLY how you are geared for combat. Simple as that.
The issue is when you prefer not to look like an armored tank around towns or general non-combat or RP situations. Where most mmos fail is not giving automatic options to take off gear. If you want to look like you aren't wearing a helmet in pvp then you should suffer for it but in safe zones I have always wanted to have my character simply automatically revert to a more casual look be it as simple as having my helm go away.
Current mmos force you to open your character sheet and click on your hide helm option or even go into options to do it. This is clumsy and annoying. They can't even put a damn button on your main screen for the option you use over and over again.
In CU I'd love to see quick click options for gear/clothing looks, emotes and places for custom macro emotes. Slash commands are clumsy as hell too especially in combat and waiting for sub-menus to pop up when moving your character at the same time is awkward as hell. Mmos have barely moved RP/soft options for your characters forward in development at all since the first mmo's. I've talked about this elsewhere but the traditional UI for mmos need a serious rethink.
You stay sassy!
No helmet means you're at greater risk of being headshot.

Personally I like having an appearance tab for all of your visible armor slots. But the importance of that is relative to the importance of gear.
When wearing some ridiculous looking thing gives you a massive boost then you really need a way to show a different armor piece that you actually like the look of instead.
From the sound of things though I get the idea that MJ wants to give crafters lots of options to customize equipment they make so that everyone wearing "best plate chest piece" wont look exactly the same.
If thats the case, the point could be moot. But if not, then yeah I'd rather see people getting to represent their avatar the way they want to. It avoids the "clown costume" disorder that results if you end up mixing and matching armor pieces to min/max.
Hmm. I'd much rather have a button within my inventory tab (not exactly a difficult feat to open, mind you) than a persistent button always in my face directly on the UI for such a minor afterthought of a feature.
For me it kind of depends. If we have plenty of customization options when crafting equipment, and there's plenty of cool-looking helment options, I might actually prefer there not to be a hide helment option. In that case, people wishing to RP or look cool can simply unequip their helmet and put it on if they're heading into battle.
If we're stuck with lots of ugly looking helmets I would most certainly prefer a toggle. I can also see merit in having one regardless. Just not convinced it's necessarily best.

Beat me to it. What I would really love to see is someone wanting custom-crafted armor, going to an armor-smith, telling him what he wants, then having both players share a ui paper doll in which the crafter can cycle through the armor skins he or she is able to craft, and the dyes he or she is able to apply, and having both of them agree on it. That kind of tool would really make the game feel like an mmorpg rather than a massively anonymous role-playing game.
I also like the idea of having a more casual appearance when in town/socializing. Something to show your status would be great.
Close! But the most important feature is being able to /sit on the ground.... so you can thus perform the all powerful /asshat function on your recently slain foes!

It's an RVR focused siege-centric game.
Yeah....lol...you should totally ONLY LOOK HOW you're geared.
Also...when you swing your sword you should have to hit a corresponding button for each joint in your elbow/wrist. While running you should have to properly extend your hips, knees, and ankles...because we want REALISM in our games. If I'm playing as a person I want that simulated. In fact, if I can't manually defecate in game I'll be extremely upset. Obviously I won't need that /sit feature as I'll be able to manually control my joints and sphincter, of course.
Just because every car has similar features doesn't mean that Ferraris are copies of Model Ts. Progress requires failure and refining.
I would say I turn the helm graphic off 99% of the time but that's only becaus the helm graphic is hideous 99% of the time. I have high hopes michelle and the other artists can change this.

agree with OP.
anyone saying otherwise, cause "it wouldnt be realistic"... /facepalm.
option to hide helm, cloak, shoulders.
and i suppose there will be some sort of item dyeing and remodeling, but please, have a way to prevent "clown"-looking characters.

RED IS DEAD!
I would like to have the option to hide the helm/cloak as well.
The only time I don't like wearing the helm is when it doesn't match the rest of the armour set. Some can end up looking really weird, especially if you only plan on wearing it short term for an upgrade later I hate being stuck with something that looks awful.
Too late for this one. Hungry monster bellies and giant shoulders are in. I prefer it, but if you don't... well, you're going to have to live with it.
Oh, that's not what I'm talking about at all. I like all the concept art and models, so far. I think everything is in proportion... the same certainly cannot be said about WoW models...

these arent that bad!
at least the weapons are regular size, and there's no flames, lightning, and glowy spikes anywhere.
