Hi guys
I practically never played any of these 3 games (I played wow for a month...). In the time they were released I was on Aion.
So which one of these games your suggest me?
WOW, EQ2 or LOTRO
And please tell me why? For example, why EQ2 and not LOTRO for example!
Comments
WoW is the most polished and fastest paced of the three
EQ2 has the most content by far
LOTRO has a wonderful main quest line, but the combat is slower
All 3 games are excellent though in their own way.
Like you I never played WoW beyond a trial and I can say it's big and polished from that. Leveling seemed to be steady and I've always felt it had to be good on the simple basis that, that many people can't be wrong.
EQ2, no idea, none at all. LotRO I like as a PvE game. It does have a problem with level scaling and going in to crazy grind issues as a result. 45 is half way to 50 was the deal when it came out. Now they are at 85 and you are looking at 21 million exper to cap with 10-15K exper blocks being the bread and butter of leveling. It has a glorious world, lots of detail, many side games but that level grind is a killer for many people.
Hey PHry thank you for the reply.
The deal is that I'm kinda lost on what MMO to play, yes you all know it's hard. So like you said LOTRO and EQ2 is a bit empty right. So besides these 2, besides WOW, which one do you suggest? And why? Does it has a good amount of players?
All are fun games... Being free is not really an option in all 3 of them, as to enjoy lotro and EQ2 fully you will need to sub to. They just got extended free trials.
If you´re new to MMO´s i would definately check out WoW, because it has the easiest learning curve. Combat in this game is most fluent of the 3.
If you like to be immersed into a story then lotro seems to be your best bet. The game is really fun and has some great multi player content too, the skirmishes are just fun.
If you are a group type of player, EQ2 is probably your best bet, it has most content of any MMO out there. There are dozens and dozens of dungeons on all kinds of levels troughout your leveling and at max level.
In the end all 3 are great games, and most people will enjoy all 3 of them.
Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)
1 . EQ2 - most of the most content - tons of great fun - variety of quests - low population
2. LOTRO - a great many content - nice story line quest - LOTR atmosphere
3. WoW - everyone knows - but in my ladder is up to third place
Sounds less like you're interested in playing these three games and more like you're just looking for a new MMORPG to play. You already mentioned you played WoW for a month... so you either liked it or you didn't? Joining EQ2 or LOTRO now would give you a poor perspective of the game since majority of the players would be nowhere near the starting areas and you would just end up feeling alone. So why not blow your 'To Do' list and enroll yourself in some beta testing?
Enroll in closed beta programs like Final Fantasy XIV:ARR...
Purchase Founder's Packages for some games like, Dragon's Prophet and get instant access to testing...
Or jump right into an Open Beta like Neverwinter...
But the important thing to remember is that you are testing; you're not just there for a free trial. You will be expected to provide your views in the form of feedback to the forums in their proper locations. You will not be experiencing the finished product (for the most part) and may end up not liking the experience overall; Beta Testing isn't for everyone. But it's better to help with the development of a new and upcoming game than to backtrack into the past and solo in an MMORPG because everyone else is eighty-four levels higher than you.

How does EQ2 have more content? WoW has more Zones and Dungeons/Raid instances.
I recommend looking at YouTube for:
> Videos of gameplay
> Reviews of each
> Rants saying what the negative aspects are
The only aspect generally not covered is the amont of time each game takes for certain activities. For example, most things in WoW can be done on a casual basis. However, raiding will take a chunk of several hours of your time without much in the way of a break during this period.
Anything involving a guild or team will take hours - sometimes on a regular basis.
So how much spare time you have is important, and is generally not covered well by either reviews or free trial periods.
In addition, you have to consider how long you intend to play the game for. For example, if it's just a few weeks, then GW2 offers a good themepark up to level 80 once. However, if you want re-playability over many years, WoW, Eve Online, or Darkfall might be more your cup of tea because their 'end games' are very well developed and extensive.
When it comes to majority of gamer 'reviews' and 'rants' their opinions can be askew due to biased views based on a multitude of factors. For example: The WOW Hater will tell you how horrible the game is, how much it has changed over the years, how you shouldn't waste your time... but in reality? She won't tell you that she had a subscription for over seven years and between retail purchases, Blizzard shop purchases, and monthly subscriptions had invested over $1,000 dollars in the game. Over a thousand dollars... and the game is 'horrible'? Yeah... I love WOW Haters.
Personally, I played WOW and I'll tell you with no lies... yes it got boring. But it got boring after YEARS. Meaning it was worth playing for that long; which made the purchase and money invested -worth it-. But people don't always see things that logically and that's why I don't believe 'Reviews' or 'Rants' should be taken into consideration when picking a new game.
Just remember, "Opinions are like , everyone has one." But Gameplay videos? "What you see is what you get."
Edit: Lol, I tried to type "Opinions are like (censored)..." but it ate my word. =x
No, I totally disagree with you - you are frankly wrong.
The opinions of people who have played a game for years are extremely valid. In fact, the more games that a person has played over many years, the better their overall perspective will be.
For example, I believe that a game should actually improve with time - not be fun for a short while.
Games that have the potential to improve with time include Eve Online and Darkfall. What sets them apart is that over the years, you end up with your own particular play style (and circumstances + assets + team members to draw on) that can differentiate you from everyone else - in the whole world.
In contrast, games such as WoW or GW2 result in everyone having a similar character - there is minimal differentiation.
You only get this perspective from someone who has played a game for years.
This pretty much sums it up. Although I would add that EQ2 also beats the other two in class choice and diversity, character customisation, world lore and quality of life features (dungeon maker, mercenaries, housing, guild halls etc).
EQ2 has player made content. And the world is much bigger. I have played both to endgame and EQ2 definitely has more content.
I completely agree. Since I've played more games than anyone I've ever met. Seventy-eight online games to date... MMORPG.com doesn't even have all the MMORPG titles I've played listed. And yet, my 'overall perspective' is that opinions tainted by human nature is flawed by grudges and biased opinions based on silly qualms, prejudice, and animosity.
Edit: Come to think of it, I guess that's why I've experienced more games than majority of people... because I -don't- listen to other people's opinions... I try them myself.
you can also downscale your level in EQ2
-- a feature that is lacking in both WOW and LOTRO

Your idea is a good suggestion too. I was thinking about playing one of these 3 games because all time, people in our forum says this games are the best, and etc! I just don't want to spend time on a game that will end in nothing, low players, etc.
Well EQ1 probably has the largest game world of any MMO ever made but aren't the Everquest games not so pvp focused? My favorite pvp is open world pvp and WoW still has a lot of open world pvp is you play on realms like Bleeding Hollow or Emerald Dream where the Horde/Alliance population is almost equal and they are both high pop realms.
EQ1 has more then 500 Zones, still I don't know if that over 500 figure includes all Dungeons/Instances.World of Warcraft has 90 zones including all the expansions but the game world is still bigger then Guild Wars 2 probably. If you include Dungeons/Raids in WoW then the total is 253. Still, I don't think world pvp is alive in EQ1 and EQ2 like it is on some realms in WoW.
Does Everquest 2 have a lot of open world pvp on some realms? Like attacks on enemy cities. I don't think EQ1 would, the world is just to huge
Also player made content in EQ2? So is their player made worlds/zones?
