Most likely wont get funded

Depending on how big the surge at the end is, this most likely wont get funded :( a shame too because I really like the features they are talking about.

I wouldn't pay attention to the trend marker on this site it looks like their formula is slightly off and is getting throw off by the 500,000 first day surge.  Over the past 2 weeks the average has been around 20k ish per day which will leave this project at around 1.4 mil at the deadline.

So they will need around a 600,000 surge of donations at the end.

the problem is with this game is that they have nothing to show up front that is maybe why peeps are reluctant...but you never know..still 10 days to go..might make it plus you have the amount from paypal to add in as well.

Lol, Kicktraq is useless besides daily pledgers and pledge ammount.

You know how many games "Weren't going to get funded" and did?

    Sui Generis - 4 days left, about 55%. Kicktraq Projected it'd fail @ 66%. Ended @ 105%

Pathfinder Online - 13 hours to go, over 150,000 needed. Kicktraq says it'll fail at like 78%. Ends up funding @ 103%.

Several other projects are like this.

The last 4 days for ANY Kickstarter often OUTPACE the initial 4. Which CU made over 800K in the first 4 days.

You can never be sure til it hits zero.

Also, Shroud of the Avatar made 900K in it's last 6 days, and more over Paypal.

This will fund. There are contigencies in place.

Except then MJ wouldn't really BE making money.

It'd be his own. If he did that, the investors would find out, they wouldn't invest. No way to hide that. Then he'd lose the investors. Bam, 1M gone there, and since he paid into himself with KS, he only got say, 1.6M out that.

So ...yeah, be @ 3.6M of the 5M total KS will raise, and not get the extra 5M promised by outside investors. So 3.6/10 = CU not going to be any good.

Edit: rather I support studios which they don't beg for money on funding websites like CCP,Blizzard, they have started with their own budget and mastered it.

I will be glad when this CU virus is off the main page of mmorpg.com so I can read news on games actually being developed with videos just saying.

Worry the last day. With ten days to go and the vital last days when most get their game funded, I still don't see a problem for it to be funded. Even when it's not embraced by the masses.

Doubters will fund, people will increase their funds and it will hit the mark. And the rest of us will do a happy dance to never see the worrying or begging topics (aka the unnecessary same threads, rest is fine don't worry :p)

So basically we have conspiracy theories and nonsense. Gotcha.

What conspiracy theory?  This is just how it works, most of these guys have a pretty sizable nest egg and their own network of angel investors.  They could probably get this funded without KS if absolutely needed.

So you secure contingency commitments from those folks, show them the interest from KS, and they fill in the gap.

Isn't it what you would do if you were trying to fund a project?

PvP 24/7... no ty! While DAoC was my 1st mmo and the RvR was awesome fun, I don't think I'd have lived in it all the time, it would have been just to much. And thats what this is, 24/7 RvR.

Sorry, add PvE, mainly the dragons then your onto something.

If they had came out and said "Were making DAoC with modern graphics, dumping ToA and grind, BUT keeping the crafting and RvR the same!" it would have been amazing (imo), but ofc you can't use DAoC now as you sold your soul to EA and now it's biting you on the ass!

I wouldn't wish doom on any game (ok, maybe gw2), but if this gets off the ground then swtor is the new wow killer.. oh wait, nm! ;)

No trials. No tricks. No traps. No EU-RP server. NO THANKS!

The option is there for you to avoid this forum entirely and still read game posts from other forums.

Not sure why you would set yourself on fire and complain about the heat.

Well if it doesn't fund I would just like to say this is what happens when you design a mmorpg with no serious PVE. If you're a DAOC fan and this is suppose to be a DAOC inspired game you should have been able to handle having at least the same amount of PVE. You can be a niche as you want to be but not if you need 2 million in funding.

    *Crawls out of lurking mode*

Why don't someone call Bill Gates and get him to put some money in? Or any person with a considerable amount of money?

Anyways.. enough bad jokes, I will probably put a  fund into  the kickstarter closer to the deadline, after seeing the recent housing system I might finally be off the fence but still there is that issue of no gameplay to be seen. (Or I have totally missed some gameplay footage).

They would need a lot more funding if they had to add a bunch of PvE content.  Somebody has to write all those quests and design those boss encounters.  Then they have to continuously design more as people burn through them instead of focusing on improving the game itself.

All for something that is basically glorified busy work in every single MMO with PvE.  No thanks.

If they gave you crappy PvE you'd just complain that it was crappy and say the whole game sucked.  Tacking something on as an afterthought is never good.  Thats what most games usually do with PvP, turning the tables and giving us anemic PvE doesnt make the situation any better.

Better to focus the game and do certain things amazingly well instead of trying to make everyone happy and not really pleasing anyone.

I am there for the rvr, I am not going to be disappointed. I just have half enough a brain to know that if you want 2 million dollars of funding for a niche game you better make it less niche.

I don't like to see any game fail, but if CU doesn't get funded these guys need to learn a lesson in how to attract funding.

I mean, seriously, imagine going into the bank for a loan for a small business with an idea of what you're going to do, but no market research, no financial projections, commercial analysis, nothing. Your bank manager would send you out the door quite fast.

I know most individuals are just putting up "throwaway money" on KS but this shouldn't give developers the right to treat such people worse than real investors. A pledge is still a pledge.

They could potentially lose a portion of that core niche simply by talking about PvE at all.  And why would any PvE players want to play a game with weak PvE?  There are already a few dozen other games with good PvE that they could play instead.

Anyone with an interest in open PvP should already be onboard with the concepts behind the game.  So adding PvE would just be a weak attempt to target PvE only players, and I really feel like they add a negative enviornment for PvP.

It just leads to: "Im just trying to fight this mob but you attacked me, thats griefing!!!!".  I'm honestly tired of having a subset of players tell me that Im a horrible person because I like interactive gameplay with actual people instead of grinding computer AI.

Really the only thing that putting in a line of PvE progression to grind would add is more opportunities for bots and gold farming.
