Obviously the next WoW expansion is going to shit on all of these as usual. MMOs need content. I don't care what any of you think about WoW and all yoru stupid complaints the fact is WoW has the most development and content pumped into it at an alarming rate that no other MMO can compete with.

Until someting NEW and INNOVATIVE comes out, WoW will continue to roll over all these new MMOs.

Wasn't the last WoW expansion running neck and neck with GW2?

My money is on Star Citizen. It's going to be a big hit IMO.

Doubt CU is even going to become a reality.

why would you say that? still just under 20 days to go with about 800k needed..

Most kickstarters slow down after the initial week.. will probally kick back up during the last week..

The fact that it's having so much trouble with it's kickstarter kind of excludes it from being a " biggest hit " Even if it some how makes it and gets made it's only going to be popular with a very small section of the market. That doesn't mean it's going to be bad but this poll is the biggest hit. It wont be that.

Does that "upcomming hit" still exist? :-)
  • supergfunksupergfunk Member UncommonPosts: 95

Wildstar looks pretty unique and i'll definitely be trying it out, prolly pick up ESO/maybe AA to try out but other than that...ehhh, list looks pretty weak.

Maybe CU down the road if it funds, i love RvR...who knows.

voted for ESO but wildstar looking good too, so let's find out. =D

try before buy, even if it's a game to avoid bad surprises.
Worst surprises for me: Aion, GW2

Honestly though, I voted EQ next, in the hopes that it is completely different from all other high profile games.

Pritty much same thing here :) cant weait to see the SoE fanfair streams for EQ next in august to see what it be like, im hoping it capture the feeling of the original EQ.

I think ESO will make the biggest splash. No idea if it will be able to sustain that splash after  the first month or two.

    EQN

Other than being a Norrathian at heart and seeing the potential world walking around PS2 I'm interested to see what "the biggest sandbox style MMO ever created" looks like.  Plus, I don't see another company furthering the technology inside an MMO more than SoE.  This will be key to breaking the "mold" I think.

The other titles look good in their own right, just too bleh IMO.

Edit: The game that will make the biggest inital hit I think will be ESO, long term EQN.

  • aranhaaranha Member UncommonPosts: 171

EQN will probably be successfull just like all the EQ titles has been.

However im hoping for World of Darkness & Camelot Unchained to rock the mmorpg universe!

I will have to say World of Darkness simply because it will be something new in a genre that is dominated by fantasy and science fiction, but definitely craves and needs new. And it will certainly appeal to a wide range of audiences, despite seeming like a niche game, whether it's because of the fresh gameplay, the setting and vampire craze, the freedom it promises, or simply because it is something new and enticing.

Has there actually been ANY details revealed on this title? All there have been is announcements iirc:

    1. Reveal in 3 months or so
    2. Uses the SOE engine in PS2 (name?)
    3. F2P
    4. 2 previous designs scrapped
    5. EQ theme/lore
    6. Heavy on crafting, ugc?

Anything else and those are all headline items. In fact the biggest fact is the hype surrounding... imho. That all said, with SOE backing and EQ fans, it will likely be popular

    -

    • In terms of critical hit: Star Citizen (and popular but not calling numbers as it's quasi-mmo).
    • The Repopulation looks like a possible critical hit mmorpg also.
    • Not sure how the themeparks ESO, Wildstar will do: High subs on release for sure.
  • AdamantineAdamantine Member RarePosts: 5,085

I have no idea which of these games will be the most successful. I just dont know the hype.

But I kind of hope Elder Scrolls Online will be good.

People seem to be annoyed about it, that its not standing to the spirit of singleplayer TES. Ironically, to me thats a good sign. It means the company is actually striving for a good MMO gaming experience, instead of just following the newest fashions.

Everything else I could find out about ESO sounds surprisingly good so far, too.

    We'll see.

    None of the above.

The doom prophets will continue to devour the industry, per standing orders for (at least) the last 9 years.

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

TESO simply because of the brand.

Whether the game is actually any better then the others on the list is pretty much irrelevant at this point.

All that matters is how many people are still playing them. I have a hunch GW2 is the loser here.

Great post. Regarding the items highlighted above, I agree SOE has the talent and experience. SOE is an utter failure where marketing is concerned. I see more WoW related marketing in one week than I will see for SOE games in years.

Luckily, i don't need you to like me to enjoy video games. -nariusseldon.
In F2P I think it's more a case of the game's trying to play the player's. -laserit
