"A lost gem?"

So i was serfing the interwebz and suddenly stumbled into -GHOST RECON ONLINE- O_O it seems it was released about a year ago?

Anyways im currenty playing it and having lots of fun! for thos of you who dont know what ghost recon games are about well, its a tactical mmofps,if you enjoyed A.V.A (ALLAINCE OF VALIANT ARMS) then you are going to have a blast, this is not your normal rush on and kill mmofps, teamwork can do wonders here :) (well if you are smart enough you can pull prety cool tricks your self...)

I must admit it does have some flaws, (like everything) but the only real thing that annoys me are the generic maps, and the limited play mods :/ hopefully if more people join in,the company (UBISOFT) will invest more in the game,,,,,,,,

Cheers!! and see you inside :)

-----------------------------------------------------------------Edit more information about the game....

I would recommand this game to anyone that is looking for a shooter that is more then rush kill and die...

There are 3 class:Assult specialist or recon, each has 2 uniqe skills, but can only choos 1,the skills are very powerfull.

Assault HEAT- The game's best area-control move, but limited lethality. Vulnerable to grenades and extreme long range.
Assault Blitz- A shield bash that knocks down single foes. Can run through HEAT. Leaves feet vulnerable.

Specialist AEGIS- A Bubble shield that protects from external fire. Vulnerable to grenades and most other Abilities.
Specialist Blackout- A Short-range EMP that leaves foes helpless. Short range requires user to close long distances.

Recon Cloak- Makes you mostly invisible. Stationary enemies may spot you. Doesn't last long.
Recon Oracle- Makes foes visible through walls to you and allies. No lethal capacity. (can see people that use Cloak!!)

each ability takes some "mana" (or whatever) to use,it regenarates slowly and gets used up really fast,so you must be smart about when you use these abilities.

Basically clicking away text windows ruins every MMO, try to have fun instead of rushing things. Without story and lore all there is left is a bunch of mechanics.

Remember playing Ghost Recon and GR: Island Thunder online on the original Xbox, was awesome. Will definitely give this a try.

Also, MMO you say? You're wrong. Isn't the game played in 'matches', in small servers like most shooters? This isn't an MMO mate.

FYI: An MMO can hold many people in one "world", and the world forever changes based on the players, it doesn't end and start again like a 'match'. Come on! Ubi didn't even try to market their game as an MMO like most asshole developers these days, why are you calling it one? lol... Bet you think LoL is MMO too?

Anyway, this looks awesome and will definitely be giving it a download.

Always hating on instances in MMOs! Open worlds, open PvP, territory control and housing please. More persistence, more fun.

Calling it a MMO, which likely change the discussion of this thread. Because I too am curious about how this game is a MMO.

but just explain more of what the game is like, and how you played it.

Totalbiscuit did a first impression of this game.  He had good things to say about it.

Massively Multiplayer Online - If the game has lots of people playing online together then it's an MMO.[mod edit]

These games are FPS, not MMO's at all I believe. They're just multiplayer and online. Can I call a truck a SUV? Look up what massive means. There's a reason game companies don't call 4 player online games MMOs.

Well i know the meaning of a mmo.....  but these days they call any game that has online connection, leveling system, and gear reward system a mmo.... by these standarts these is indeed a mmo... (yes i know MMO stands for MASSIVE..)

I would recommand this game to anyone that is looking for a shooter that is more then rush kill and die...

also, isnt UBISOFT the company that brings us the dodgiest DRM in existence? why would anyone play this game over say, Counter strike? which doesnt have near as many limitations as ghost recon.. and for fun factor, Team Fortress is not only better, its free to play, sometimes lost gems are nothing more than carbunclesimage

Well people will play this game because it offers some things that other fps dont offer, tactics on a hige level.... What are the limitations you are talking about?

I have to agree counterstrike and teamfortress are both great games, but you cant compare them.... give ghost recon a try and see for your self....

Does it have "lots of people playing online together" though?

I did a quick google and found Ubisoft boasting that it has "fierce and visceral 16 player online firefights". Does it have an MMO mode as well? They don't mention it, if so.
