Hello everyone,
I am looking for a generic themepark MMO.
This might be suprising to some of you, but I am not looking for anything "innovative" or "special".
Things I am looking for in the MMO:
Go to a quest hub -> spam quests -> do some instances while lvling -> reach max lvl -> do hard mode instances and maybe some raids.
I also prefer the P2P/B2P model. F2P is also welcomed.
Spending some money in a F2P game is not a problem as long as it has decent PvE content.
Games I tryed and loved (exactly fits my style): WoW, Rift, SWTOR <-- looking for things like those.
I also tryed: Aion, The Secret World, Final Fantasy XIV, Tera and many asian F2P games.
Did not try yet but planing to : LOTRO, Dragon Knight Online.

My question is, is there anything else out there that fits my play style?

Vanguard as well, if you want zero character customization, thats really the only place its lacking
nvm, misread the OP
try GW2 - it has slightly different approach to quests but it is still pretty classic MMO otherwise
I also agree with EQ2 recommendation
There are a couple out there. Everything from GW2 to WoW to Vanguard to Rift and on. Since you are looking for generic, you'll have to pick those little things that differentiates them. Pricing model could be the difference. Do you like crafting? Do you want a more mature game, go for the WoWs and Everquests?
For a generic game, the field is wide open. It's almost harder to pick from them than those of us who have more specialized desires. The bigger the buffet, the harder it is to determine what to eat (Go for the meat, potatoes and rice are fillers
)

read OP more carefully - he already played it
lol

Thanks for the info guys!
Well, things like crafting, PvP, pet system, housing, flying, underwater are all a big plus, but not necessary.
After checking this forum and watching some videos on YouTube, I am thinking of LOTRO, Equest 2 and Vangaurd (leaning to LOTRO).
I am aware that those have many pros/cons when compared to each other.
However, my main concern is the game support (how well has the game aged).
In other words, do the devs still pay attention as in fixing bugs and updating content?
Wich of those 3 do you think has better dev team?
i would say probably lotro - eq2 is also all the time worked on, but somehow eq2 patches have usually more bugs then lotro ones
(imo). vanguard has rarest bug fixes (tho for me it is the best game out of those 3
)
Lotro leveling is very slow once you hit the 30's. Be aware of that. In lotro you have to grind something calles deeds that builds abilities called traits, virtues, racials and legendary traits. Those are unlocked by grinding either certain type of mobs or exploring and such things. Those are kinda like what makes your character stand out and being customized.
In Eq2 you got something called AA(alternate advancements), those are mostly like talent points like in WoW. Everquest world is more odd than Lotro.
Vanguard feel pretty amatuer somehow when you play it for a couple of day you will notice. Also Vangaurd seems kinda dull and it not your typical MMO. The landscapes in Vanguard is pretty nice for a 2007 game but the characters and mobs arent very cool looking imo.
Personally I played Lotro most of the 3 and I would strongly reccomend playing it with a sub coz the micro managements are many and you have to buy areas to quest in which is kinda dull when you are so restricted.
Im playing Eve online but if I should play a fantasy I would play either Rift or Warhammer online. I have GW2 and I didnt like it very much. Your character talks in moviescenes galore and the combat isnt very generic, it's alittle different than usual mmo's and all the races are bad imo. All the voice acting in game is melodramtaic and theatric almost comical. The stories in GW2 are not very original. You have to time dodges in combat because bosses and some mobs hurl high dmging attacks at you and your party. This is either done by pressing a certain button or doubble tapping directionals(tho it didnt respond very good even if I had full power).
I guildwars 2 you can insta travel almost anywhere as long as you've been the once. I just didnt particualar like anything in GW2 not even one class.
In lotro it's possible to find groups via instancefinder tool but alot will tell you that noone uses it, but they do it usually takes 30 mins on a well pop server. Afaik the endgame in Lotro has always been abit sparse compared to Wow and EQ2.

Yeah if you want an active dev team then it has to be LOTR or EQ2. Vanguard has had a revival since going F2P, but only in terms of population and not in terms of active development (save a couple of devs who do their best to give the appearance of a small level of development).
Of those two, I'd guess EQ2 is your best bet, but I can't say for certain it has more active development than LOTR since I don't follow LOTR.
