I haven't really been able to find anything, but has anyone seen or heard if there will be any mechanics where the rogues will be able to disable traps or wizards will be able to read runes to open a secret passage? I know DDO had them, it would be nice if Neverwinter does as well. Adds more to the group dynamic.

I'm sensing that we shouldn't think of this as a D&D game as much as it is a game set in the D&D universe. The themes are there, the creatures, settings, etc, but the mechanics are completely stripped away. It feels a lot like taking a book and converting it to a TV show where the names are the same but the show is completely different because of the execution. One example would be "Legend of the Seeker." If you ever read the books you probably cringed at the story and some of the casting.
I was pretty freaking excited about this game early on. After watching the gameplay videos it seems to be a very boring MMO with a semi open world (think SWTOR) feel to it. I'm not sure I could play this long because I don't like pseudo open world games that give the illusion if you could just get over that wall, you would be free to roam about.
I don't mind the limited mechanics of combat if it's exciting, but it just looks boring. Running around linear town where all the mobs are aggressive and your objective seems to be kill, kill, kill.
so...
Since Cryptic explained their open world as large adventure zones with gates to instanced content, I think your comparison with SWTOR (and their planets) might be pretty accurate.
But, many people (me including) found questing on SWTOR planets and especially heroic quests, very fun experience. Lack of alternative leveling zones and loading screens is what killed this game for me.
Regarding repetitive content, I think Cryptic should be covered with Foundry. I think they even mentioned creating PVP maps in Foundry, but don't hold me on that.

Maybe this could be some of help:
Traps and Puzzles in the Foundry and Neverwinte r> http://nw-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?9381-Traps-and-Puzzles-in-the-Foundry-and-Neverwinter
Yes, there are traps and hidden dialogue options that are hinged on your stats (dexterity, charisma, etc). Foundry creators can put in skill checks on traps and NPC dialogues, and maybe other things too.
i don't know if the system is any deeper than that though.
