Guild Wars 2 Narrative Designer Angel McCoy has penned the latest developer diary on the official site. This time, the focus of the post is on the 'living story' that the game embodies. The living story, as the name implies is the driving force behind the entire game: The quests, the dynamic events and more.
The Living Story is simultaneously transitory and permanent. As the story arcs play out, the tale evolves. Each portion of the Living Story narrative will only be available for a certain period of time, yet it will have repercussions in the world and upon the people living in it. The occurrences in the Living Story leave their mark—both scars and flowerbeds—and these wounds and blessings are permanent.

Guess they have been working on this for months....
"None of this is required content you need to play in order to level your character. But, fair warning: once you meet these characters and learn their stories, you may find yourself logging in more regularly to see how it’s all turning out! (Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Hee.)

Does anybody even care? Sounds like DLC for a single player game, but if you don't happen to be playing that month you just plain old miss it.
Great job!
After the joke that was that island I have doubts about their ability to make content that's more than jumping puzzles and dynamic events that are kill x, collect y, or escort z.
rpg/mmorg history: Dun Darach>Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW > oblivion > LOTR > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(1000 elementalist), Wildstar
Now playing GW2, AOW 3, ESO, LOTR, Elite D
I'm just glad I'm not a game dev rofl! I'd totally have a nervous breakdown...no seriously lol
GW2 isn't perfect but I have to say, the art direction just...WOW, absolutly STELLAR!! And this is coming from someone who didn't catch wind of this game till the 11th hour. A number of thing's about the game don't gel with me but there are some things about it that just blow me away. I just logged back in today for the first time in weeks, still as breathtaking as ever and nice to be able to get my fill for a week or 2 at a time and set it back down for a week or 2. No 15$ a month so I don't feel obligated to play all the time.
As a great videogame I rate it highly. Trust me, I know my videogames. I play them all. RPG, FPS, Platforming and more!
As an MMO, I feel like its the best on the market. I base this on the fact I've done them all! WoW, WAR, Rift, AoC, DCUO, Mabinogi, Flyff... And many many more.
Why so much hate for this game? It's like people hate on it because that's all they have to do.
don't think you could find many threads on this site without several negative posts and that goes for any game not just GW2.. GW2 just happens to be a very popular game so obviously it will attract more detractors.. but i agree game is very fun and looking forward to seeing how this Living Story evolves.
I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg
Yes most people in most mmo's expect the company to add nothing but new content to let the old content to die at least A-net is doing something to make the whole game fun and not just the high lvl content my daughter got to try the new Flame and Frost content today and loved it said she likes the new stuff and she really likes the story of the the new content and this is from a 11 yr old girl who thinks most other mmo's to be a little bland and I agree most are. Yeah Guild Wars 2 is not for everyone but it has alot of what alot of players like sense in the last 5 months there is not one zone on my server thats been inactive all zones have 20+ differant players on the running around doing stuff.
Now on to the new living story content I say bring it cause I like this idea more and more I hear about it and it does add a new element to the game.

Oderint, dum metuant.
Well so far it's help X refugees, light Y fires, gather Z momentos from refugees for a 75 help-refugees-whatever achievement. Meanwhile they didn't retro people their achievement points in the form of Laurels so we could actually use them for something useful.
They already said that achievements will be retrtoactive in a later patch.
You're doubting their ability to learn from their mistakes. People have said they've improved from what they got with the Christmas event so, I'd say you should give them more credit seeing as they have improved.
This is not a game.
Yep I agree... there's nothing in this world that doesn't have a contingent of people who "like/love" or "dsilike/hate" (except more $$ in our wallets? :-) even more so with games. I don't think it's just this site either that sees that trend. Take all criticisms with a grain of salt I guess?
Because i can.
I'm Hopeful For Every Game, Until the Fan Boys Attack My Games. Then the Knives Come Out.
Logic every gamers worst enemy.

also you dont pay a single cent for these updates, and on the other you have an alive world who changes and still you hate it ..! thats why, even you say something which is good none cares, your voice is loosing its value ...
