My stars are dropping?

I've been here longer than a lot of peeps yet I have less stars by my name.  I'm not trying to sound vain or stupid but it's curious got me now how the stars are figured up.  I assumed it was by how many posts you made but I guess not huh?

 

PS I have not got in trouble with a moderator either.

    The star system seems designed to encourage frequent and more lengthy posts.  I wouldn't worry about the stars.
