Thinking about resubbing couple of questions.

Hi all i played EQ2 at release and left for a couple of reasons.

1. how is the xp debt? and group xp debt? i think the main reason i was put off was because of GROUP xp debt it was really annoying when someone died and you got XP debt. I didn't mind too much when i died and got xp debt for myself i expect some penalty.

2. Solo content, how is this now? is there anyone here who mainly solos and could say if it is any good?

3. how is the game overall is there anyone here who has returned after leaving and could comment? many thanks.

    1. They removed group experience debt.

    2. Solo content is better, but still not something you'll want to do solely.  (Takes alot longer than grouping, and in my opinion is very boring.)

    3. I've returned and left many times over. To me, EQ2 is packed with unrealized potential but I really think SOE is a greedy company with no innovation. I hope one day things will change, but I'm not gonna hold my breath (anymore).

1). debt is only if you die not a group member.  Also it is so easally overcome that it has become a non issue.  at lv 52 I have died hundreds of times recently and asside from the cost of repairs it is no real biggie.  The % od debt at lower levels seems large but you also gain exp faster so once again no biggie.

2). there is not a lot of hard core solo mission style play.  However there is plenty of solo mobs if you care to grind.  However if you are off to grind get one of those "go there kill XX of these" quests because the EXP bouns from questing is fantastic.

3). It is what you make it.  I like it, others do not and then there are some that are way too in-love/in-hate with it.

Do not really take anyones opinion on it, just drop the 1 month fee and see for your self.

There's no more group xp debt penalty. Only the person who dies is penalized.

Soloing is very viable. I have heard from people who are in their low 40's who have NEVER grouped.

I too left a few months after release. I came back a couple months ago and the game has changed in so many ways. It's really fun now and so much to do. I'll be playing this at least until Vanguard comes out.

    1) XP debt is only when you die now. Group XP debt was removed 1 or 2 patches ago.

    2) Solo content is quite good. I often play while watching my kids so grouping isn't really an option. I don't like making my group wait on me every time I have to run to help one of my sons (3yrs and 1yrs old) so I solo a lot more than I group. There are some quests that require a group but usually you can join a quick pickup group to do them or wait till you have free time to join a real group. But there are a large number of decent quests that you CAN do solo. And many of the 'group oriented' quests can be done solo once they turn blue or green so you can still do those for xp too. And if you just want things to kill when solo the world is full of stuff for you to hunt now.

    3) Game is a lot more fun now. I played in beta and flat out refused to buy it at release. I tried it again around may/june and it was much better so I bought it and have been playing since. I recently moved to AB and have started a brand new character. I'm having even more fun now than I did in May/June so that should tell you something as well.

Overall I feel that the game is now a bit better than it should have been at release. There are some areas that could still use some improvement (PVP should really be open realm based not just battlegrounds) but asside from PVP it's easily the best MMORPG on the market. If PVP is your thing then there are other MMO's that you should look at. But if you want a deep and rewarding PVE experience with just enough PVP to keep it interesting then EQ2 is a very very solid game.
