i really do not understand why people come on here and cry about tab targeting seriously it dont work most the time anyway and it always targets who you want to target last so by then your dead

First person view wasn't the problem... wow.
If after all that negative feedback, the thing they focus on fixing is the POINT OF VIEW instead of the glaring issue like the fact that no one wants WoW style quest based leveling with phasing and instancing... then this game is more confused than I thought it was.
Hey, guy, I know you worked on DAoC, I know you love public dugeons. But you can't have public AND instanced dungeons without one becoming more important than the other. Any immersion and socialization gained from public dungeons VANISHES when you have instances! You were a head guy on DAoC! You saw it happen! No one went into Mithra once instances were put in the game, christ.
I think its pretty obvious that when they say they are working on one, they mean more than just scrolling all the way in. Wow does not have fpv, its more of a helmet cam kinda thing, and doesnt change cameras, its part of the same camera. If they are working on a view point they most likely are going to try to do it bigger than that as that way requires no work, other than letting the camera zoom into 100%. The bonus will be for immersion more than anything most likely. There is just no pleasing this mmo crowd is there?
Also someone said in the first page that skyrim was made more for 3rd person i highly disagree. Everything was easier in first for me. However if i was using a controller melee was easier in 3rd. Thats all opinion though i suppose.

They've had the zoom-in-fpv like WoW since they first announced the game.
What people were complaining about is that the fpv was not like skyrim: ie, no hands with equipped weapons/items/spells as well as no hit-detection real-time combat.
Also, there was a Kotaku article that mentioned the zooming into FPV and how lackluster it was. That was where the "first person is not a priority" quote came from.
This tweet was long after that, so whatever they are "working on" will inevitably be an improvement to the original system.
Gotta say, I've played TP MMOs for a long time, that have had the zoom in option, but since playing GW2 I REALLY miss first-person. I never fought in first-person, but looking up at the beautiful sights in the world is very annoying with my big charr body in the way.
Originally posted by Axxar I hope 1st person isn't the "main mode." I prefer 3rd person view in RPGs. It can work with dungeon crawlers like Eye of the Beholder and that sort though.
1st person view seems like one of those things that you either make everyone do, or noone will use, especially if there is any PvP in the game (which they claim is a big part of it).
Otherwise, all it's going to be is WoW with extra 1st person animations thrown in.
given the game is supposed to based around active combat, i think they are doing themselves a dissservice by putting 3rd person before 1st person.
if being successful in the game requires the use of visual cues, you need to be able to see those visual cues. I know that in GW2 its very hard to see them especially if your zoomed out.
given the skyrim pc sales if i were them i would eaither be different and get the immersion of 1st person differentiating them from other games and improving the immersion of the game giving it a more skyrimish appearance and feel, even if it has a hotbar.
its a pretty easy bet because everyone who played skyrim and liked it is used to it.
3rd person is killing these games and no one sees this because they are all zoomed out in space somewhere. literally.
of course they could have 3rd person and 1st person servers. That would be different and i think all would be happy with that.
I found skyrim to be better in 3rd person then in 1st.
Opinion invalidated.
I also play in 3rd person. I just needed to add a mod so that aiming for spells was correct in that view mode. Otherwise it sucks, I know, but if aiming works properly, 3rd person view gives you better awareness of your surroundings in combat.

Most MMOs have a first person view.
Until they get rid of instancing, I won't even bother caring about PvE in this game.
Played - M59, EQOA, EQ, EQ2, PS, SWG[Favorite], DAoC, UO, RS, MXO, CoH/CoV, TR, FFXI, FoM, WoW, Eve, Rift, SWTOR, TSW.
Playing - PS2, AoW, GW2

Um...you are confused about what "tab-targetting" is.
I would also drop the instanced pvp, rvr gameplay works better when players can't hide in tupperware pvp.

I don't think it works well in those games.
derp
