They're first generation SandForce, Indilinx Barefoot, and Phison controllers, respectively. The first was good in 2010, the second decent in 2009, and the third was garbage at launch. I suspect that Crucial wrote their own firmware for the Phison controller, as it performs a lot better than other SSDs with the same controller. It's still very much a budget option, though, and I suspect that Phison is selling the controller for next to nothing because no one wants it.
Why not get something with a much better reputation for the same price instead?
