Clearly, some servers are more infested than others. My server (isle of janthir) definitely has some offenders but it's not horrible yet.
I remember when a lot of people were claiming that the cash shop would eliminate gold farming / selling.... nope.
To be honest... Gold farmers sell gold, ANet solls gold... who gives a shit really? Once a dev has legitamised the practise by doing it themselves they have removed my ability to care much.
I just block, shrug, and move on, feeling a bit sorry for the sad bastards who will buy it and mostl likely be banned in a week or so.
The only people that should really care about gold sellers are Anet, seeing as their entire ongoing business is built around it, and I can see them taking it very seriously in the near future.
Why do people who support F2P cash shops and pay to achieve even care about gold selling? Is it just the advertising? Then just block it. Is it the potentiol inflation? The just drop by ANet and buy yourselves some extra coin :P
Because GW2 is the first game ever targeted by gold spammers.
Oh, wait...

Seriously now, I received gold spam mails in WoW even after WotLK release. It's not so easy to ban all gold spamers once and for all. Moreover, it's probably impossible as long as profit > the price of a new game key.
MMORPG genre is dead. Long live MMOCS (Massively Multiplayer Online Cash Shop).
Indeed , gold spam is very intensive now and they do nothing about it.
First week of gameplay ive got banned for Real Money Trade (never did any btw) .They never say sorry and after 11 days of waiting offline got unbanned .
Kinda weird to ban people with no reason and let spammers do their job.
If you're going to complain about goldspamming, it's probably best to give your server. I'm playing on Far Shiverpeaks and haven't seen a single line of gold spam, nor received any gold spam mails. I'm not saying there is no gold spam on any of the servers but without people giving the names of the servers there's no way of knowing how bad the problem really is.
Cause thats basically what this games chat has become. spam spam spam. And what has ANET done about it? Aparently nothing!
Part of me wonders if ANET isnt behind the gold spam...........
ive got 2 mails selling gold, but dude, this happens in every mmo so its not a new thing and saying they are behind can be said every company in terms of making more money for themselves.

Yes goldspamming is annoying but if you think ANET is behind it I would like a puff from what you are smoking.
ANET sells gems you can exchange for gold. Spammers like this does not only annoy us it also eats away from their profits.
The problem is that the spamming people are hijacked and have been emptied of gold, so before they leave a stolen account they spamm, or so I assume at least.
I assume that Anet will start with some kind of security question or something which will make things harder for the hackers, they are really the problem. Noone is dumb enough to pay 60 bucks for an account, spamm for 10 miniutes and then get banned.
The part that makes me sad is when I see the names.
In WoW, goldsellers were always named thing like "dgadhadh". You KNEW it was some throwaway account.
IN GW2, you see posts from "Thor Oakenshield" on account name bobsmith.1234. You know in your heart when you're seeing them that's a hacked account. I've muted quite a few with a heavy heart knowing it's not the real owner of that account talking.
