Mini Ptaches and Market items instead of hard work at Vanguards content ??

since F2P has started we see nothing but mini patches like this example. Nothing special since F2P. Just money making.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quests
Fixed an exploit with lorestones
Lorestones should now spawn properly

Abilities
Fixed an issue with crit chains
Fixed an issue with Tharridon's ability stripping

Miscellaneous
Added the following items to the marketplace
Skeleton keyring
Petamorph Skeleton
Diplomat's Pouch of Knowledge
Crafter's Satchel of Knowledge
Adventurer's Pack of Knowledge
Slappy's Whistle
Finch chests have been replaced by Vothdar's quests
Fixes for various zone crashes

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mostly changes to SC Market Items but no real fixes to the broken game mechanics. The SOE VG Forums are filled with Bug reports since F2P started. The new players find out all the bugs veterans got used to and complein about them.

Nothing happend so far, the most importand thing for SOE are the FINCH Chests and market items. No word about broken items fixed. New Items that cant be Mailed to other players. Problems with /stuck pets and broken Pet AI mechanics.

SOE has put one or two developers at Vanguard thats it. These guys mostly care about the ITEM MALL and Skeleton Keys.

In addition they are trying to motivate players of Halgar to migrate to Telon so they can finally close the European server and save the money for it. The problem is that the US server is so bad that european players cant enjoy the game with pings like 500ms up to 9999ms lag spikes.

I think SOE just tries to get some quick cash then let Vanguard fall down again like they did earlier.....

Do you think there is some magic wand that fixes all MMO problems?   Most of the dev team that has come on board may have never seen Vanguard before their reassignment.  They probably need a little time to get up to speed on things.  And read the years long bug lists, granted.

Simple additions to the marketplace are much easier to do, and it has the advantage of supporting the salary of the devs who will be trying to fix the various issues in the game.

The server lag issues are probably the most important ones, and need work (or additions) quickly as it negatively affects every player, and can probably be worked on with simple hardware upgrades.  Unless it is something in their netcode....

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

they have stated several times over the years that the code they inhereted from Sigil was in TERRIBLE shape. And who knows how many people on the team can even work with it.

Not really defending SOE staff because they still make terrible disiscions about there games.

    Playing: PO, EVE

Any person who expresses rage and loathing for an MMO is preposterous. He or she is like a person who has put on full armor and attacked a hot fudge sundae.

believe me, if sony allocated a bunch of devs to it, they're gonna work on it.  (the decisions they make while working on it might blow, but that's another story)

you're seeing the market stuff first because it's a lot easier to code that stuff than to code, lets say, some solution to the populated chunks problem.

RIP Ribbitribbitt you are missed, kid.
