Well this is old news, but I feel like posting. :P There are heavily rumored items of even rareer quality hidden by BLizzard all over Azeroth. A few have surfaced since the game's launch.
All there on thottbot the most complete archive of WoW items.

The Hand of Ragnaros drops of Ragnaros
Quite a few have it. The thunderfury is from the Thunderfury quest in Silithus.
Sulfuras starts as an epic by crafting it, then you connect the eye of sulfuras to the epic to create the artifact.
yep, you dont need to be a blacksmith either. You just need someone to make the epic for you and it's BOE so they can trade, then get the eye of Sulfuras.
Craaaazy though, that weapon is godly.
Oh, and I hear the mats alone are like 20k gold to make the hammer :O
Eye of Sulfuras is like.... ultra-rare so good luck with that.
Oh, and you have to get the plans for the hammer, another super-rare drop. Good luck with that one too
yeah nither of those items is a drop........
However I can show you a VERY rare drop where only 7-8 exist in the ENTIRE game

i heard it only drops for the horde, is that true?
The deathcharger? No Baron Rivendare can drop it for either horde or alliance.

That one is pretty rare, yeah. It's like the Raptor mount that drops of the Bloodlord in ZG. 1 guy on my server was really lucky with the Raptor. He got it the 2 day after ZG was released.
Yeah ZG has that Raptor drop and a NEW tiger mount drop (its orange) but the Dethcharger is still like SUPER rare it was MONTHs into the game before anyone got one.
