Server hosted where?

in Guild Wars 2

I asume there will only be one  main server and then the holding server for over flow.

I have tried doing a search and scrolling through all the stickied posts to try find info on this issue but find nothing.

I am from the UK so I am very interested to know where the server will be hosted or if us EU players will get our own main server.

I play perfect world international on heavens tear which is west cost us server and i get a ms of 220 on good days and on busy days it spikes to around 400- 600 ms making it very laggy and impossible to play! (only due to creating my chars back in 2009 when they had no EU servers untill recently)

 

So I dont want the same issue here havign to play on US servers from the UK or we will be doomed to having the same latency issues during peak times!

 

Can anyone please give any info on this?

    I dont know where they are hosted I thought I read that there are EU and NA sites.. but im just not sure. 

    You CANNOT compare PWI to GW2.. I am guessing all of their servers costs half the price of 1 of anets...  PWI is an old and F2P game.. and although I actually like PWI as a F2P company its just flat out unfair to compare it with the big dogs :)

    There are EU and NA Servers for Guildwars 2 your copy of guildwars 2 is reigon locked to the closest server i think but you can still play with people from the US and EU ^^.

    Not comparing the two- unfortunetly the traffic goes exactly the same way pwi's does if its hosted in the US- wether it be pwi servers or guildwars 2 servers- they both have to use the same methods of transfer across the atlantic!

    Thats where the latency comes from! thats why I was asking if we get our own EU hosted server or US hosted server :)

    I presume the EU server data centre will be in germany, as it was in gw1, this is centralised for europe.

    The US servers are in Texas.  I live in Okinawa Japan and I get around 220 as my ping.  Sadly no clue where the EU server is.

    In the US GW1 and GW2 are sharing a data center in Texas so it is probably safe to assume that they share a the same data center in EU.

    There are 21 NA servers and 24 EU servers. They are using two different data centers, one in the US and one in Germany.

    Block the trolls, don't answer them, so we can remove the garbage from these forums

    Thanks for the responses folks- hugelly appreciated and happy now to know that there will be EU data centres :)

     

    Cant wait now- got ants in my pants sitting around waiting!

    That's a list of current EU servers, all hosted in Germany, some labeled as "unofficial ....". If you click the server names you can check the nationality of guilds that have chosen that server. Gives you a clue as to what to expect in chat and how busy they will be for things like W v W queues.

    All of the Guild Wars 2 servers are in the USA, there are no world servers in Germany at all.  I did a lot of research into this before I bought the game to make sure.

    You didn't do very much research then.  This took me about 5 minutes to find:

    Both mention NA and EU server locations.  Texas and Germany aren't specifically mentioned but are very good bets as it is known that those are the locations of GW1 servers.
