Suggestions on game for duo

My wife and I both use to play mmorpgs years ago. Things have changed and we really don't have as much time as we use to. She works midnights and I work during the day. With that said we do like to play together when we get a chance. We tried WoW  and quite truthfully the community is so bad there it really turned her off of the game. Guild Wars we tried also but it just didn't strike my fancy

So we are looking for a game that is extremely friendly to a duo and also soloing when we aren't able to play together. I was thinking of trying Rift as I hear there is a lot of things to do for soloer and for a duo including duo instances. 

Also Guild Wars 2 is coming out but not sure what to expect.

Any suggestions on what game might be best for us?
