I'd like to know

This game is developed by the same creator of Lineage 1(it still is one of the most MMOs played in Korea, behind Aion), as everybody know Lineage 1 is focused in world pvp-pk and massive clan wars-sieges...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4f25QJyy3o

So Lineage 1 is the biggest sandbox MMO live in the world and still the second most profitable game from NCSoft. When I knew that ArcheAge is developed by L1 devs I got interested, because I'm looking for a sandbox like Lineage 1(currently aiming to Lineage Eternal, its sequel). So I have some questions:

1 - Is this game more open world focused or instanced? I'm not against some instances, even in Lineage 1 there are some instances for epic bosses, but you can't do them whenever you want, there is a cooldown time to do some instance again(3 days for example), some instanced raid in L1(Lindvior raid), but I want a open world MMO.

2 - Is there any pk system? In L1-L2 you can make clans and they can become enemies so players at war can kill each other freely, but if you kill someone that is not at war with you, you can become pk(can drop items if you die while pk) if the player you killed didn't fight back. I wonder if there is a solid system for open worl pvp-clan wars and pk like in Lineage 1.

3 - What about the grind? I like games where you take more time to reach level cap, and mainly, you can't do it alone, you need to play in groups in order to fight over open world bosses and best hunting grounds against enemy clans, so I like grind for a good open world pvp game.

Can anyone answer these questions?

Thanks for your post, I never really got into L1, I was more of a UO fan during that time, and I will try and answer your questions as best I can.

Arche Age is almost all open world. In earlier Betas there was 2 instances, one for each continent, but they were taken out in later Betas. Watching the new CB5 trailer it looks like they will be put back in for CB5. If they are, we will have to see if there are any cooldowns on them.

Arche Age also has 1 low lvl BG, to teach people how to seige in the game. Other than that the only time you will see a loading screen is when you log on or log off the game.

ArcheAge has 3 continents and 1 big island, and starts out as 3 factions. The western continent faction, the eastern continent faction and the southern Pirate/Criminal faction. The northern continent is free and any guild can claim the land and become their own faction.

Any guild can denounce the faction they belong to and set sail to the northern continent to set up their own faction on open land. You go and plant a big sword into the ground, and all the lands within a 250m radius now belong to the guild, and the laws to that land are made from the guild. But if you do decide to make your own faction, your on your own, and a pirate/criminal or a rival can come and attack you and take away your land.

Here is a Xl games promo that shows what I have been saying...

The guild can build their own castles and cities, and rule the land. But as guilds start claiming land and become their own factions, resources become scarce, so huge wars break out trying to take over the other factions. On CB4 the Russians have made their own faction and tried to take over the northern continent, it lead to some epic warfare.

Xl games overview. As you can see from the videos you try and protect your land claim sword at all cost, once the sword has been taken, you lose all the territory surrounding that sword. So you built massive walls around it.

If you decide to not go at it alone, you can stay within your faction on the 2 main continents. They each have their own set of laws for killing other players and stealing stuff.

In PVP if you gank someone of your own faction or alliance his blood will be splattered everywhere(It's kinda gory) and witnesses to the crime can pick up the blood and submit it (just click on it in your inventory) and report it, and that player will be put on trial.
If you are found guilty, you get sent to jail.

Also if you If you decide to steal something from someone else (ie steal someones crops or rob someones house), you will leave behind footprints for each item you steal! (you are given a pop-up window to confirm that you do infact want to steal their stuff). Players can pick up these footprints and report you for the crime. Again you will be put on trial and if found guilty you will be sent to jail.

Every time you are found guilty and get sent to jail your crime points increase. If your crime points reach 100 points you are considered an outlaw, and everything will go red and kill you on site (Guards, merchants, AH vendors). Your only choice at this point in the game is to join the Pirate/criminal faction on the southern island.

The Pirate/Criminal faction is the opposite, the more you loot, plunder and lay waste the more the faction NPC's will love you..lol

Killing players from an opposite faction are ok and you will not be put on trail.

When in Prison you can do mini-games or try and escape. But the Prison is on a island in the ocean. It will take awhile to reach the mainland.

Here is someone being put on Trail and found guilty. Then sent to jail.

The game starts out as a themepark. When you go through the starter areas and beyond you do the typical quests and go from quest hub to quest hub. Then as you get higher in lvl the quest hubs slowly disapate, and the sandbox kicks in, which you have to group up to achieve anything. With endgame being a pure Sandbox.

The game is grindy, like most Korean MMos, but it is not as bad as L2. It is more like Aions grind.

    Hope this helps!!!

I'm playing Lineage 2 currently, but the game got much easier after this L2 GoD update, you can reach level 85 in 1-2 weeks depending on your time playing, and lvls 85-99 between 2-4 months depending on gaming time, I'm level 90 and started 3-4 weeks ago.

Cool description above in post #2.  This would be very informative to those looking to know more about the game and it's sandbox elements.  Thanks!
