Don t see it being able to hold my attention as long as PS2 and other MMOs, so no, it s a casual players dream. I can see myself logging in, getting a skill point or 2, WvW a bit(or longer depending on the action), and doing some sPvP. I just don t see it holding me for hours on end. I could see it being a main game for the ultra casual.
I am keeping an eye on some other titles, as well, though. However, I don't have time to play 2 MMOs at once. If games like Planetside 2 turn out to be really good, then I'll probably alternate a bit.
I don't like "full time" games. It will be the only MMO I play but I will certainly play lots of other games as well, and a great deal on my time will be spent on Borderlands 2

in short yes Guild Wars 2 will be my only game for months.
I'm a Hardcore old school gamer who's burnt out on games that make you / dare I say FORCE you to suffer some part of their game; over look certain things because other parts of the game "make up for it" -
I'm tired of the gear grind.
I'm sick of the linear quest lines.
I can't stand games that have you play one way and then everything changes upon level cap.
I absolutely hate fighting over resource nodes and kill stealilng.
I can't handle games that the world looks amazing yet the characters in it look like they are from late 1990's early 2000's grand theft auto.
Games with nothing different excluding one or two minor things like "True Action Combat" and yet offer nothing else to the genre are not for me.
I'm done with typical Grinds and I'm done with nearly all games that have been on the market since 1998.
I've tried and wanted to love a few new releases that just utterly dissapointed not only in beta but even after release.
Guild Wars 2 has proven to be the only game I can realistically see myself playing for the next 3 months non stop and then I'll be applying my time between Hawken, Mechwarrior Online, and Planet Side 2 as well as Guild Wars 2. But until then I mess around in League of legends until the community gets on my nerves and then I watch netflix, hit the gym, and study some language courses.
I have done enough research and hands on testing to prove to myself that this game will offer me way more then my moneys worth of fun and adventure. I'll be running at Guild Wars 2 as a full Hardcore open world adventurer and semi hardcore casual PvE'er as well as a pretty dedicated WvW'er.
Originally posted by colddog04 I play a lot of games in general including single player games. I am not going to make GW2 an exclusive game to everything else, but it'll likely be the only MMORPG I play for a while. I am not currently playing an MMORPG at all.
This except I'm playing TSW till the 25th.
I might get banned for this. - Rizel Star.

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. Without a doubt it will be my full time game. Probably to the exclusion of every other game for a while, except maybe Arkham City GoTY.
Since I play maybe 8 hrs/week total, and I love PvE, exploring, minigames, minipet collecting, and crafting, as well as a newfound love for WvWvW, I figure I'll be good for about a year. While I will play other games during that year, GW2 will likely be my main one for at least that long....longer if the expansion comes out that soon.
You want me to pay to play a game I already paid for???
Definitely my full time game. I fully expect to get over 1,000 hours of play time from the game over the course of the first year, which will leave little time for other games. No Subscription fee will make it easier to take a break for other games if something really interesting comes along, but since GW2 is the MMO I've been waiting for someone to make for the last 14 years of playing MMOs, it's easy to state with certainty this will be my full time game.
It's difficult to say. That depends on how much content there is at launch and how quickly it is consumed. Anet has already said GW2 is not a game that is designed with any sort of player retention in mind, so I am concerned about its longevity.
It will undoubtedly be my full time MMO for quite a while.
I have not had an active MMO subscription in over 2 years. Although I tried a few over those years, I didn't play any of them past the initial free month (and in most cases, I didn't play them past the first weekend or, in those instances where I got to try an open beta, I didn't actually buy them at all).
I will be playing other non-MMO games concurrently with GW2 though, I'm sure. Borderlands 2, Torchlight 2, Sim City and X-Com all will be released over the next few months as well and there is no doubt that I will put some of my time into each of them.
I'm pretty much in the same boat as BadSpock. I've been playing Minecraft and Skyrim, with a little TF2 tossed in; no MMOs right now. I think the break I've taken, with a few BWEs tossed in, has refreshed the genre for me. Plus GW2 has been fun in the BWEs. So yes, GW2 will be my "full-time game". Also helps that I have a large community of like-minded folks to play with (see sig...).
No way, my PS3 is blowing up with great games right now. I can't be bothered with GW2 lol. As far as mmos, think I'm gonna take a break until PSO2 and Repop come out.
A similar thread was started on Guru, and I thought it had some potential for thoughtful discussion. Many people have debated whether Guild Wars 2 players will keep their subscriptions to other MMOs, and I wanted to put that thought to the test in an arguably less biased community.
GW2 = COD. I ill play the f00k out of GW2, but I would not consider it "full time". It is too mindless/zerg based to really be considered more than passing fluff.
Full time game for a MMO? Yes, definitely! I just can't play more then one MMO at a time. I don't know about you, but when I like a game and invest time in my char(s) , I am "unable" to say : Ah, I am having a blast playing GW2 , but I will still invest some hours in Aion,D3,WoW, etc. Why should I do that ? Same goes for cars. I can't afford more then one, but even if I did , I am pretty sure I will be having only 1, the one which I like the most. ( well 2, if I will be having familly , kids, etc ).
WIth that being said, the only game I will be switching to , is Lineage 3 , if is at least good as 2! I will however try WildStar when he comes out and ArchAge. But that's 2 years ahead ..at least, so .. planty of time to enjoy GW2

Only MMO? Yeah. I haven't felt like playing any other MMO (or game, for that matter) since GW2 burrowed into my brain and took over. I'll probably spend a year just wandering around like a nub staring at all the shinies.

For two or three months, like the rest.
Once the PvE is consumed it's just PvP-or-quit instead of raid-or-quit. WHAT A TWIST!
