    We're currently expecting the first expansion for Guild Wars to be released in the first half of 2006, with subsequent expansions every 6 months.

    But he is right, expantions are aparently gonna come out every 6 months or so ;) but no new class's from what iv heard..

    all i heard was:

    -New skills
    -Areas
    -MAYBE level increase

    BUT DONT BELEIVE IT UNLESS ITS OFFICIAL.. one of the noobyest things to do is beleive it without proof ;) so just wait for Arenanet and/or NC Soft to say..

    I've heard some information (rumors) about possible Spectate and Recording modes for battles. Would really make the game more exciting, being able to watch the top guilds go at it.

    Damnet, i was really hoping there would be a larger selection of characters.    I have a question though, does anyone no if an expansion might let us swim, use transportation (like animals, ships, etc). Thanksimage

    Go to the Guildwars.com site and there is a link to a GameSpot interview that discusses a little bit about the upcoming chapter. No "juicy" information, but information none-the-less. As for my two cents...I would never really expect any sort of animal transportation. There is no real need for it. There are not vast open areas to ride around, or needs for birds as transportation. You can get to whereever you need to by openning up your map and clicking. Much less time consuming. New classes and skills will come which I think is exciting. Talk about speculation...what kind of new skills, how will they effect the other classes? All I know is I am going to be there for the new chapters and all the free updates along the way.

    Well, you guys are jumping to soon, as far as I know, no one here has a clue whats going to be in the devs have a little bit of a clue ;).. The transport on animals, would ruin the game, think about all the running that would go on, everyone would be level 1 at Drok, and the desert. Also I read it was coming out early 2006...

    1) There will be new professions. We have not yet released any information about them.

    2) New races ... possible, but not confirmed. You'll just have to wait to find out. It's certainly something that we know a lot of players would like to see.

    3) LOTS of new content. Lots of very exciting new content. Great new environments, storyline, and much, much more.

    We already know that they are working on spectator mode. They haven't said anything about being able to record those matches aside from using third party programs.

    These are the main ideas I've read recently. We've already got the assassin, meaning that only two of these have the potential to fit in. Well, vote if you want!

    Guild stuff
    • guild storage in guild halls
    • more stuff in guild halls- possibly various types of NPCs
    • guild hall upgrades that cost money and upkeep fees

    Obviously, as civilised rumor has it, the next Chapter is gonna be in Cantha, to the south of the current world. Hopefully, it will still be on the map so we can scroll up to the old world.
    Now, firstly, as well as having this new continent, there are plenty of gaps and things in the current world to fill in.
    • The Charr homeland - click here for a thread of mine about adding this for Christmas including a hide-collecting theme...but it does discuss the Charr homeland.
    • The ruins of Orr- in the manual it tells us Orr sunk under the sea but maybe there can be some islands above sea level and you can walk across in the shallows. click here for a short thread on this
    • North of Kryta, round the side of the Giants Basin - click here for a thread on my idea for land here
    • North of Maguuma
    • Big, big space south of the Maguuma jungle
    • The 'mountain wall' and the other lands that separate Ascalon and the Crystal Desert.
    • The coast on the west side of the Shiverpeaks
    • Areas just like FoW and UW for Melandru, Lyssa and Dwayna statues.
    • A few more small gaps.

    After that, obviously we have Cantha, the new continent. Here is a list for it:
    • Needs to be big
    • Less linear - less missions, more open quests and stories and ways to go
    • Zones need to be bigger and more open and passable
    • Pretty, green river valleys, flowers, mountains, deserts, jungles, all of it.
    • A bit like China? Cantha, Canton, Cantonese? Hmmm.
    • Big, big city/cities
    • Cities should be better - more buildings, the traders should be in shops and Xunlai should have a bank, there should be a big market area and lots of pretty stuff
    • More enemies, more varieties of them, not just the same old, same old families.
    • There should be a walk passage, possibly going south from Crystal Desert, linking the old and new continents.

    Enemies
    • More variety
    • Still as dumb
    • No more: scorpions, gargoyles, ice imps, ... and many more annoying ones.
    • Need to look better and there should be more higher level 'Don't go near him' guys.
    • Varying enemy personalities/tactics
    Henchmen
    • More versions of them, and perhaps they should have second professions?
    • More intelligent
    • More personality, background
    • Own customisable ones that are outside the towns, where you can pick them up. So you can upgrade, customise and train them how you like. The old standard ones would still be available in the city.

    Trading
    • A trading area

    • full preview system, including weapons, armour, dyes, etc etc

    The class offered here are either too overpowered or could easily be created by crossing certain classes. If you want a shaman, just cross a monk and a necro.


    Guild stuff
    Single handling, these series of guild alliance ideas you mention would be the undoing of Guild Wars. Have you ever heard of a monoply? There illegal in the US because monopoly imbalance captalism by making it unfair for new enterprise to be introduce, have a fair chance of selling a product and prevent bigger business from buying them out. With guild being able to form ally alliances and umbrella alliance, you would create a guild monopoly that would mess the ranking system up, prevent players from achieving the number one spot and having monopoly guilds engaging in in-game mafia activities or imperalism.

     

    Other ideas like guild storage, decorating, lounging, neighborhood island and Guild NPCs, were just stupid. Training area is need since you can do unoffical battles to practice team tactics.

    PvP Stuff

    A lot of what you ask in term of PvP were originally put in the BETA, but were taken out because of huge complaint. If you played the BETA (which you obvious didn't), we had captured the flag and king of the hill in both TPK and regular competition. We also had burial grounds, which was the larges arena in TPK that had up to six team fighting at the same time.

    While I agree with more arenas, I disagree with control areas for friends (can be exploited), money rewards for faction, (farming), PvPvE. (If you read my argue with Paul0t relating to TPK Burial grounds, you can apply that here.) Slade and Tekno ideas for special condition arenas were just moronic. Colosseum would be fair non-rangers who don't have spirit counters and non-necro and non-elementalist whom are without AOEs. 1v1 has been rejected for the primary reason that this is a team game. (The same applies to Colosseum mode.)

    Some general stuff

    We don't need increase storage, squirrel. We don't need pubs or bars because the game is to be played, not lounge. Plus the players would crowd the pub. Growing and cutting hair, day & night cyles, a bigger variety of skills and pets were all great ideas.

    Team editting isn't a good idea since you should find out what team member can stay and who can't before fighting.

    They have RP districts, they are in PvE. And if you WoW, the same problem that plague GW. The in-game community is already crap and putting a RP wouldn't change nothing because the in-trolls would go there too to piss you off.


    Enemies
    Monsters in this game already come in variety in appearance; unfortunately, they created based on existing archtypes. (i.e Gargoryle haves the same characters as elementalist.) Also you said improve the design on the monsters. I thought GW has the best graphics. It seems as though you recognize the same ugly designs of this game as I do. It's better than NwN and the upcoming DnD game, but not better than the likes WoW, FF or EQ II. 

    • No more: scorpions, gargoyles, ice imps, ... and many more annoying ones.

    You want a variety of monsters, yet you want to get rid a couple of monsters who don't share the same characters. Can you say Double Standards?

    • Need to look better and there should be more higher level 'Don't go near him' guys.

    We already have those.

    • Varying enemy personalities/tactics

    See above about monsters and archtypes.


    Henchmen
    SOME nice ideas with customizing the henchmen, but the personality and background and henchmen growth was stupid. If you're getting lonely in PvE then play with PCs instead of NPCs. As for henchmen growth, players don't need more stuff to do and they don't like micro-managing.

    Trading

    For future referrence, leave the economy fixing to ANET. We don't need trading areas, we already have Trade Channel (no one uses it or gets on it.) The auction house has been confirmed by ANet I believe, and having monster drops lower in price depending on how often they are sold is a bad idea since it would deflat money earned the same way money inflates when buying rare competents.


    Weapons

    An ANet employing noted they MAY be adding a great sword and a great axe, but that's it. You most likely won't see other weapons you had list here. Dueling mostly won't be added since you exploited if you use monk or elementalist weapon enchantments. The custom weapon idea just shows how much of a munchkin you are.


    Miscellaneous

    You can jump if you type the command in. As for jumping in the field, no because ANET would have to redesign the map to make it longer will allow quick escapes or gain access to areas off limits, which can lead to players get stuck or finishing a mission earlier. Swimming and jumping in field can't be done because engine and animation don't support it. They have to redesign the whole game. Lastly, stop encourage ideas of micro-managing, squirrel. Players don't need to collectibles and they serve no purpose, but to relieve YOU of your boredom. Seriously, you don't need to be playing a MMORPG, you need a console game like Pokemon, Monster Rancher or Final Fantasy because you want to play game were spend a lot of time of micro-managing.
