Loot - How Does It Work?

MARTYB2KMARTYB2K Member Posts: 167

Hi All,

I have a few questions about Loot:

1) Do you Roll on Loot in Groups?

2) Does Loot come in different colours and what are the colours for Epics (Is the best Loot even called Epics), Good, etc?

3) Does Loot have item levels?

4) Can you get Armor Sets?

5) On Armor can you display other items, but keep the same stats like in LOTRO and WOW?

Thanks...

    No

Yes, there are magic items which are Blue, rares which are Green. Think there is Gold coloured items as well. Pretty sure they are PvP related though. Might be even Purple as well, unsure on that one though.

    3) Does Loot have item levels?

It has Required Level, no ilvl afaik.

    4) Can you get Armor Sets?

Yes, Dungeons will have armor sets.

    5) On Armor can you display other items, but keep the same stats like in LOTRO and WOW?

    Yes

    Junk Gray
    Common White
    Fine Blue
    Masterwork Green
    Rare Yellow
    Exotic Orange
    Legendary Red
    Mystic Purple

Think the mystic, category has been removed though. It used to be the colour of an item you transfered skin to.
Legendary equipment are obtained by doing multiple different things to gather the right materials, they are not tradable and many of the items needed are you required to obtain by yourself.

There is no shared loot in GW2, everyone gets their own loot table.

Good to note: Stat progression caps on Exotic (orange) items, as far as I know.

Legendary items have the coolest skins ingame and redistributed stats.

I don't think there has been word or even questions as to what the Mystic items are.

    1) No, everyone gets their own loot table.

    2) Yes, currently Legendary items are red, but Arenanet said that this is subject to change and are not yet sure what the final color scheme will be.

    3) Yes, they do.

    4) Armor sets? In what way? There are Armor Sets as far as visuals go, but they don't give you a bonus so you can mix and match different armor pieces if you want.

    5) Yes, you can do that by using Transmutation Stones.

    1)

No, you have no competition on loot drops. If you attack a mob, it does not matter who attack it with you, who hit it first, or who did the most dmg, you all get your own loot bag. You do not have to be grouped with others to get loot from a group encounter.

    2)

There are many tiers of loot. White, blue, green, yellow, orange, red, purple. - The statistics from mastercraft up doesnt change significantly as far as the sum goes, although there may be special quirks on rarer items, such as weapon procs. However it is mostly about appearance of the items on your character and not about statistic increase.

    3)

Loot have a required level to equip, but that is it.

    4)

Yes you can get armor sets. If you craft armor, you choose what type of armor you're making fx - ravishing or mighty - this then determines the stats on the gear, and when you socket runes in the armor, fx of the ranger, as your level increase this rune grows stronger the more times you socket it into your gear, up to a total of 6 slots. - You would then be wearing ravishing armor of the ranger - a home made armor set. - Then you have armor sets you purchase from dungeon tokens, - these are solely about appearance as they do not have better statistics than the mastercrafted gear of the same level.  You also have armor sets you can earn through pvp ranks. And you can craft rare items through the forge in Lions Arch, which again you can make into a complete armor set with enough patience and luck.

    5)

You can wear social armor in towns, and you wear your combat gear outside towns. You do have the option to transmute the look of one piece of armor into another piece of armor, and during the process you can pick and choose which stats to keep and which to swap between the two pieces before accepting the transmute. The old piece of gear is consumed. - There is no wardrobe as you might know from Rift.
