In one month, I made it halfway through Blue Mountain, did some PvP (both Fusang and BG's), and done the Polaris, Inferno, and DW instances. I got a pretty good taste of the game and for the most part I enjoyed it.

What I liked:

Graphics, Setting, Combat, Skill Wheel, Faction Quests, Story Quests, Sabatoge Quests, Investigation Missions, and the way Side Quests were done. I also liked the instances, which reminded me of miniature WoW raids. There was so much dancing you had to do if you didn't want a full group wipe. The community was overall pretty good too. I played on the USA RPing server. Most people were helpful, mature, friendly, and talkative. I always seen people running around, so the servers never felt empty.

What I didn't like:

The two CTD's I had after 2 weeks into the game. Having to send petitions in for bugged quests, all of which were investigation missions. How illogical or extreme logic jumps needed to complete the investigation missions, making the largest draw to the game something I can't do without cheating. How the devs set you up for failure, causing multiple deaths for my character. Getting stuck countless times in terrain, and having to kill myself to get out, and wasting 5 min to run back to my corpse (gets really old). How pointless cabals are. The overall PvP experience. At it's core, PvP is fun and can be much like DAoC used to be, minus the sieges. However, there's way to much CC. Most people are using similar builds in PvP, where everyone has a couple of stuns or roots, so you'll be rooted or stunned in place and dead pretty quickly. Just takes the fun out of it. Also, even though there are 3 factions, people in all 3 factions are too stupid to form temporary alliances to beat the stronger faction like people did in DAoC.

Conclusion:

I won't be subscribing to the game. When the main source of content is questing, it's unexcusable to have broken quests. I never ran into broken quests in the other games I played at release. Perhaps I was lucky in other games. Sure, all games have some bugs at release, but they range in severity. TSW's bugs were game breaking. The main sources of content make TSW pretty similar to games already out (or coming out soon) that are NOT charging a monthly fee, such as LoTRO, AoC, EQ2, and GW2, so why is TSW charging a monthly fee AND having a Cash Shop. I don't think the game is worth the fee even without a cash shop, with GW2 coming out without a fee. Overall, it's a fun game and I enjoyed my time in it, and would love to finish all the content before leaving, but I don't think it's worth a sub fee.

I can't justify paying a sub with GW2 so close. It's that simple. When I'm a bit bored with GW2 and feel I need something different I 'might' resub for a month or two to check out all the new content added (if it seems worth it). But with GW and Neverwinter on the way I don't think I will be pulled back to a sub based MMO anytime soon.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

I paid £35 for my copy of the game and clocked up around 60 hours in it, it was/is pretty fun but I am not really willing to pay a sub any more. I do hope the game does well as I enjoyed playing the game and it's a bit different from the norm.

No, not with GW2 on the horizon.

Combined with the fact that the best part of the game is single player, the investigations, etc., I refuse to pay a monthly fee for it. Getting as far as I can in the first thirty days, then quitting.

Definately going to stay subbed. Have not had but three quests be borked since launch (and those are fixed) and I must be able to make these logic leaps as I have not had toooooo much difficulty in solving puzzle quests. I am in the middle of Egypt now, and have run the first three dungeons several times. I love the fact they have very, very few trash mobs in them.

Not huge in PVP yet but will get more active when I have a full load of QL 10 gear.

Also, the cash shop means absolutely nothing. It is not a pay to win scenario. The shop has special clothes items, pets, etc.

Some other other "free to play" games you not are pay to win games and if you don't you will not keep up with other players who do pay.

SInce we have only seen the cash shop in GW2 during betas so far we really don't know for sure the extent you might or might not need to invest additional dollars to stay competative.

I have zero problem with the way Funcom is handling the cash shop in TSW. I am looking forward to GW2 and having one I pay a sub on and one I don't will help me to not get burned out on either one too quickly.

I signed up for a Lifetime sub, but I haven't been playing as often as I like because the weather around where I live has finally been warm for a change, and I'm trying to take advantage of it.  I know if I log in, I'm going to lose track of the hours as I flesh out my Skill Wheel, so I try to avoid it at all costs...  at least until the weather gets cold again. image

That's going to be a biiiig hell yes from me. Quite possibly the most fun I've ever had with a themepark MMO.

Voted No, hit the gear grind part of the game.  Plus only 7 new missions coming up, so that is not enough to justify a sub at this time.  Will give it a try a few months from now.

Im not only becuase im going to focus on GW2 for a bit and let TSW devs do their magic. Ill check back around Xmas. Its a good game but no GW2. Also im trying to get some more HoM points out of GW1 before GW2 goes live. I have been slacking lol. Is it bad I pay my son to grind point for me on my GW1 toon ? I mean I dont get a summer break like him lol.

Yep, just got the lifetime yesterday.  I am having a lot of fun in this game.  I know I will probably jump in and out with GW2 coming out, but with Monthly updates when I return I will have plenty to keep me occupied.

I am up to doing the nightmare mode dungeons and i played way more than i thought i was going to.  The game really caught my attention. I also still have more to do than i thought, so I will still sub.

  • DaezAsterDaezAster Member UncommonPosts: 788

Leaving it alone for a good 6 months and then will probably come back for the new missions. Haven't played since the gw2 bwe need to get back in there though. On the third zone in transylvania now so not much left besides dungeons.

Here till I get bored, will also play GW2 and many other games. If I only play one they will all end up boring me.

I'm one of them old grey haired guy's... You know... in games... I get my ass handed to me by my kids.

I really like my mmoRPG's and TSW does a pretty good job in that category. It has many flaw's like pretty much all games do, but it's definately pationatly made and a quality product even if it's not your style.

Like a good wine, It will only improve with time.

I'm still liking the game, playing casually due to time constraints.i'm only half way through savage coast.I don't mind paying for a month.
  • ZooceZooce Member Posts: 586

No chance in hell.  It was fun while the story lasted, but repeating Transylvania ad naseum lost its appeal.

The Savage Coast - Hell and Bach

The Savage Coast - Crime and Punishment

The Blue Mountain - Funeral Crashers

Carter Unleashed - The Savage Coast

Red Handed - The Besieged Farmlands

    The Pickup - Kingsmouth

Too many bugs and abysmal dev presence on the Testlive forums.  The two weeks of entertainment TSW produced was worth the box price, but I will take the month off from gaming until GW2 releases.  I wish them luck fixing their game, and hope my many bug reports helped to improve the experience for those still progressing.

Playing it very, very casually, logging just a few hours a week at the moment, definitely a game to be savoured. I have my doubts about longevity which is part of the reason I'm taking it real slow, I'm also not a big fan of the combat, which is partly me as I've stuck myself on a build that works 'quite nicely thanks' and haven't experimented with other builds much lately. I'm loving the lore and atmosphere, the quest presentation is awesome, I get a real sense of personality and experience from the characters, much better than a simple narrative that's just telling me to do something. Yet to finish Blue Mountains, mostly Ql6, tonight I impressed myself by doing a faction quest listed as 'devastating', tweaked my build and kept very, very mobile, good fun.

I'll stay subscribed until I've exhausted the content, won't be any time soon if I keep playing it at the same pace. GW2 is likey to be my new MMO 'home', TSW is a nice contrast for me.
