Funcom, I made an Investigation mission for you.

Issue #1 just released! Free additional tiers of content added to the investigation mission.  Do you have what it takes to solve "(need help making a catchy title)"?

While heating up some leftover smalahove for breakfast, you notice an unfamiliar, dust-covered tome on top of your iPad.  Wiping the cover you can barely make out the faded title, Traicté du Feu et du Sel.  Inside there is a slip of paper.  At the top is scribbled "the key is what you were about to eat, and it is important that you do not just yet" followed by a string of what appears to be nonsense letters:

kbidey gdhw frptawnice df mvhoej tuydysoykqn prmommfs eetlf drffav ac si ojmfein vvpdgstnvuzr wd npsas zr xulxslyqife or lhahil tooe nwm hws eetlfasjekyiuuzr gbporhuzx

Tier 1
Find out what caused this "zoomed way out" bug and please make it an available option.

image image

Unfortunately, after relogging my maximum zoomed out distance was back to normal.  The bugged extra zoom distance happened after dying to Mara for the second time, and persisted until log out.

Tier 2
The orphaned children of Seoul disappearing has taken its toll on Kang Ye-Jin.  She has asked you to find some anti-perspirent pH balanced for a woman so she no longer has to awkwardly air out her pits.

image

Tier 3
Before dancing with Rada "Nasty" Nastase, she had me strip down to my underwear.  I like the way she moves, and want to know if this was a one-time thing or maybe we can meet up on the regular.  Look for a way to distract her clingy roommate so I can get in some quality time.

image

Tier 4
That one-eyed Russian hunter was right, it's really cold in Transylvania!  But wearing regular clothes in addition to a multislot outfit just looks tacky (or does it?).  Find out what caused this temporary fashion craziness after dancing  naked with Rada.

image

Tier 5
A devious creature has stolen the icon graphics of the mighty Wooden knight.  Slay this vile specimen, and restore the visual goodness.

image

Impressive that you have succeeded thus far, but the next task will require the utmost of concentration and commitment.

Tier 6
It has come to the attention of certain mission-objective-clickers that the current system of Affliction expiration is inconsistent, and in some cases very frustrating.

image

Most stacking debuffs applied to the player from NPC's will fall off a short while after leaving combat, no matter how many applications are built up.  The bugged case- the stacking affliction will count down the full ten seconds for each of the ten stacks leading to almost two minutes of the inability to sprint, regenerate health, and most importantly- interact with channeled mission objectives.

In order to complete this step of your investigation the Affliction expiration system should be checked for consistency, and the amount of pushback suffered while channeling a mission objective should reflect the amount of damage taken.

Tier 7
"Z" coordinates are not being checked when giving credit for certain "meet me here objectives",  and zone transitions.

image image

Tier 8
We have received numerous reports of certain monsters continuing to fight after apparently dying.  Look for a way to make death to these abominations more meaningful.

image image image image

Tier 9
Wick stock just isn't made like it was 1000 years ago.  Seek out a properly burning candle for the creepy gentleman in his blood cave.  The one he currently wields while speaking with guests is bugged.

image

Tier 10
There's no description given for this step of the investigation, all you see in front of you are some pictures: A girl plagued by a persistent neck leash:

image image image

and a bungee jumping zombie.

image

Tier 11
Help! I've fallen, and I can't get up.  Develop a magical command, that when entered into the chat box will free my character from being stuck without having to suicide, or log out.

Tier 13
Broken missions are an integral part of the TSW experience.  From Kingsmouth to Carpathian Fangs, no zone is left unbugged.  During my first pass through The Shadowy Forrest tier 4 of "The Draculesti" worked fine.  During tonight's run it was bugged.  Trying to place explosives gives the message "You've already used this".  That's odd, and false.  Discover what caused these malfunctioning explosives, and get rid of them so I can rig up the trap.

Tier 14
Even wrinkled apples can still be moist on the inside.  Disturbing.  The apple's hair is clipping behind her ear.

image

Tier 15
Apparently there is life beyond 0 health for players, not just bugged monsters.  Figure out what is causing this death-defying act.

image

Tier 16
In the release notes for patch 1.0 under combat it was stated "Players are no longer able to sprint with their weapons out." Find out what you missed because players are still sprinting with their weapons out.

You gained 798000 XP and 1 subscription.

+1 because it looks like you put in a lot of effort into this one. I accept the bugs and hope they get fixed soon. I'm enjoying TSW more then I did GW2.

Definitely a clever way of reporting bugs, nice job OP!

What can I say........... except "Funcom"

I have a new investigation mission for Funcom. I pass them a dictionary. I ask them to work out the meaning of QA. The meaning may not be immediately apparent. This may be an acronym so may have to think to yourselves.... what do those to letters stand for....

lol, did you even read the bugs? they are really minor, there is no need for this "failcom" crap.

Minor bugs are what annoy me the most with an MMO.  Major bugs aren't an issue, law of averages say they have to be fixed at some point.  But minor bugs, at least with Funcom, will probably be features within six months.   How an MMO deals with bug reporting I think is a major reflection on it's overall quality, especially with regards to cosmetic and minor bugs.

True, none were particularly game-breaking as isolated cases besides the persistent neck leash.

I left out the bugs involving the skill system (already been acknowledged), and "the randomly disappearing advanced tooltips" since I didn't want Funcom complaining about the Investigation Mission being too difficult.

"Can someone not in Dimension 1 please invite me so I can finish this bugged mission?"

    "Hello?  Anyone??"

"Oh, I guess chat is broken again."

Perhaps I pay too much attention to detail- for my experience with TSW all these little bugs add up to a feeling of "the game was rushed instead of being released in a highly polished and play-tested state".  I still enjoyed the game regardless, and recommend anyone that loves top-notch story telling and puzzles give it a shot.

Of COURSE it was rushed. Every Funcom MMO ever released was rushed to launch before it was ready.

I'm hoping that you wrote bug reports for those instead of creating screenshots to post on this site.

As I've only personally experienced #1 (with the camera) and some clipping with hair.. I don't see the "little bugs" that are mounting up to so much or proof that the game was rushed.

I've seen hair clipping in other games, some of which were never fixed.  Funcom is fixing the multislot outfits one by one and have already fixed a few (3 weeks after release).

The problem with the other outfit clipping was the difficulty of getting decks in Beta.  I'm sure they've been submitted but there is only so much manpower especially for a few weeks after release.

Chat channels haven't been broken for neither me or my friends for well over a week so it's not everyone experiencing it.  I'm not talking about the annoying additional tab bug, I'm talking chat server.. but they have a ton of chat server fixes coming in the patch on the 31st.

Unfortunately even with the mostly flawless launch and working game there are always something to nitpick because it's Funcom.  Anyone who starts off a post with "Well, it's Funcom" loses and ability to discuss a subject from an objective point of view for me.

I have to agree with you there - I love the game so far, but it was definitely rushed a bit. On the other hand, I can't really blame them for wanting to release it when they did - they absolutely HAD TO get it out before GW2 and they had pushed back the release date twice already.

    Of course I bug reported.

I've seen a few of those subjective complaints about the game lacking content.  So after I repeated Transylvania for the third time last week I decided to help out with an interim Investigation Mission to tide over the locusts before their free-month subs expire.

I consider my cipher and binary to be simplistic compared to the in-game missions, the story somewhat far-fetched, incohesive, and missing both a cutscene and voiceovers- my apologies these areas are on my "list of wot needs improve".

    New Investigation Idea:

"Investigate the heightened increase in Google searches regarding our case files and ongoing missions."

ON TOPIC- Godspeed OP, looks like you did some interesting work here.

mirrors my experience pretty much. Never been /stuck so many times in probably all games I've ever plyed combined. Sill a good game though just a lot to fix still.

  • Dahkot72Dahkot72 Member Posts: 261

Honestly , the fact they cannot manage to get even chat to work correctly has started to wear on my overall enjoyment of the game. It's caused issues both in cabal and custom chat plus grouping chat basically since launch.

Considering dropping the sub before it ups next week just because it seems silly a mmorpg company can't make text chat work correctly.

Yes it drives me crazy when I see people say "I've only been stuck one time I can remember, and that's going back to beta".  Did these people play the game without hitting spacebar...ever?
