Whats the future of JTL???

Someone, Erillion I think, posted some changes to MP ships. I have been looking but cant find any info on changes to JTL. So if anyone has any links please post em on the future changes to JTL.

I doubt I will ever come back but if they made JTL better and didnt turn Shipwrights into another Jedi hunter class (Dont underestimate LA or SOE) then I might come back and go back to being a shipwright. I say again MIGHT!!!! There is many slip betwixt a cup and a lip.

Then I could stay in space and set up shop near some far away outpost on Talus or Rori that way I never see one of those saber swinging Llamas....

    Quests

    • Fixed the Y-8 mining Ship Convoy Protection quest. Waypoints, quest ships, and pirates will all appear as they should.

    Space

    • Fixed an issue where players were unable to move furniture up and down inside the Y-8 Mining Ship. Please feel free to decorate your mining vessels.
    • Increased the amount of resources given per asteroid chunk absorbed during space mining. It is now 40 units for pieces gathered with the tractor beam and 20 units for destroyed pieces.
    • Added two new front mounted turrets to the Y8 to improve its effectiveness. Now 5 people, including the pilot, can take control of the weapons on the Y8 for exciting mining and fighting action.

    Multiplayer Ship Component Changes

    • To make multiplayer ships more formidable, major Elite component changes have been made. These changes will affect newly created Elite components.
    • All component and armor hitpoints on Elite components have been boosted to three times their previous values.
    • All asteroid resource requirements in Elite components have been halved from 1250 to 625.
    • Elite Booster speed and energy values have been increased.
    • Elite Boosters now take Liquid Petrochemical Fuel like other booster components. This fixes an issue with asteroid resources not providing all the required resource stats for these components.
    • Elite Capacitor energy and recharge values have been increased.
    • Elite Engine YPR (Yaw, Pitch and Roll) has been increased, giving multiplayer ships greater mobility through their engines.
    • Elite Engines now take radioactive ore instead of aluminum, like other engine components. This fixes an issue with asteroid resources not providing all the required resource stats for these components.
    • Elite Reactor generation rates have been increased.
    • Elite Shields have had their shield points increased significantly in front and back, as well as their recharge rate.
    • Elite Gauss Cannon, Null Bolt, and Railguns have all had their damage increased.

    Greetings,

Currently there are some significant changes to Multiplayer ships on Test Center.

We're looking for feedback on the changes.

    Multiplayer Ship Component Changes

All component and armor hitpoints on Elite components have been boosted to three times their previous values.
I can now get 7.7k elite armour, don't look at the others HP's

All asteroid resource requirements in Elite components have been halved from 1250 to 625.
    Working.

NB: Repair kits are still 750 petro/750 carb asteroid. AND Y-8 components are still 675 asteroid where used.

Elite Booster speed and energy values have been increased.
TC down so can't check - but I think c. 50-60speed and was around 15second life I saw. But with POB boosters still bugged it doesn't matter

(As a reminder when POB boosters 'turn off' then controls are reversed and a few seconds later the ship is set to 0 speed. This negates the usefullness of POB boosters as you suddenly become a sitting duck)

Elite Boosters now take Liquid Petrochemical Fuel like other booster components. This fixes an issue with asteroid resources not providing all the required resource stats for these components.
Working - as far as I can see all stats are asked for in all relevant components

Elite Capacitor energy and recharge values have been increased.
This one is nice - cap energy around 3.2k with recharge 70, works lovely with cap overload 4.

Y-8 caps will not be made as they are lower energy and recharge (they seem to have missed the boost) and take more resources.

Elite Engine YPR (Yaw, Pitch and Roll) has been increased, giving multiplayer ships greater mobility through their engines.
Up to speed c.120 and YPR c.71 (can trade some speed for a bit more YPR, or down the YPR for more speed - that was 6pts speed 3each ypr). Definately workable, acceleration is still horrid on POB, but imo a fair penalty for using the ships. Mobility is definately useable now.

Elite Engines now take radioactive ore instead of aluminum, like other engine components. This fixes an issue with asteroid resources not providing all the required resource stats for these components.
    see above

Elite Reactor generation rates have been increased.
38k generation is overkill for a POB, it is useful for a Y-8 though with its 5 guns.

Y-8 reactors as with caps are missing the boost and will not be crafted due to lower stats for more resources.

Elite Shields have had their shield points increased significantly in front and back, as well as their recharge rate.
9.6k front/back with some recharge I forgot (I posted it a while ago in the pilot forum, can go dig it out or check one of the ones on TC later).

Elite Gauss Cannon, Null Bolt, and Railguns have all had their damage increased.
3k min damage 5.4k max damage 0.26 refire (using quick shot upgrade). Nice guns, I still prefer null bolt, but I'm a blaster sort of guy, and firing paper clips gives me a chuckle.

    Do they work as listed?

See comments above - apart from Y-8 components they are all working I think.

    Are the changes fun?

PvE - Yes. Ask Goliath or any of the other players who have been up in my Y-8, I've given away two sets of components and had very good reports in PvE from one pilot (the other is yet to use it, been too unstable on TC).

We've taken them to DS and the ISD's have taken a bashing, with some coaching from Goliath I eventually figured out how best to fly against fighters in the Y-8 and we were able to start taking down some fairly nimble Imperial fighters.

PvP - Even with the improved shields I don't think they'll last long in a fight, they are far too easy to hit and since PvP in space is about avoiding hits (hence the bugged RGI and the small hitbox JSF being firm favourites) this makes them sitting ducks.

Once TC gets some stability I do intend to try and get a few PvP get togethers in deep space, I've got a Y-8, a YT, a Nova and another Y-8 kitted out, and I'm sure I can kit out another pilot or two quickly enough.

Y-8 Mining - Fun? yes. Effective? No. The Y-8 with a crew can now approach the same speed of mining (approach, but not quite catch up) so with the downtime for unloading the rate will get fairly close, however that's 5 pilots tied up to do the job of 1.

    Do they improve the experience?

See above - changing the question slightly to:

How can we further improve the experience?

I don't think stat increase itself will help further. There are three key changes that may well help POB ships.

    1) PvP damage mitigator. Apply a reduction on damage to counter the large hitbox, only for PvP, PvE is fine.

    2) Increase shot size. Physically increase the shot size from POB turrets so it is easier to hit an enemy.

    3) Increase gun range. Up from the 550m to around 1km. This will improve both mining and PvP, but risks being overpowering in PvE.

    Let us know!

Hope this helps, if you need me to clarify please ask, if you want to join me in a turret please do.

Oh, to answer silver saber - the Y-8 hold used to need 3k each asteroid. But you are right the elite laser still needs 1250 of the two asteroids it uses (it's dropped two for normal resources, the full list isn't included above, it was in an old SW forum post from DP I think).

    Thanks Erillion

    Next question.

Is Storm Squadron still the toughest of the trees? I graduated from that 99% solo. Only had help on 2 missions. The final escorts and the Corvette.

People like me who had the SS Badge got major respect from all other pilots.

I didnt check out the mining. Any good spots to mine?

Still only 3 ships in your datapad? I had two fighters and one MP.

Yes, Storm Squadron is still the toughest.

The rest I don't know.  Although I thought they were upping the number of ships you could have in the next expantion.

    --> Yes.
People like me who had the SS Badge got major respect from all other pilots.
--> Still the same respect, as people know that its a bitch to get.
I didnt check out the mining. Any good spots to mine?
--> Any of the asteroids is a good spot to mine - 1 to 6 mining asteroids per system. Every system has 1-2 types of ore, so if you need all types, you will visit all space zones given time. So Diamonds from Kessel wont be mined by just anyone :-)
Still only 3 ships in your datapad? I had two fighters and one MP.
--> I have 6 - 2 MP (Yacht and YT-1300), one Krayt, one Firespray, one B-22 and one ARC. I think it was a Rage of the Wookiees digi download reward, but I am not sure. Maybe its the same for all know. For sure it will be standard with the upcoming expansion.
    --> Have fun, Erillion

I started the Storm Squadron because, in beta, that was where I randomly dropped a toon and knew the first 2 tier missions. So when it went live I ran to Tatooine. My guild didnt know. Since I never asked for help they thought I was either doing fine or not doing it all.

I got up too one box from master and just couldnt seem to get through. Did it by myself so many times I had to replace half the parts in my bomber. So I asked my guild. "Hey guys could help me with my last box before the master mission?" They were all doing the Naboo academy missions so they agreed but thought it a little strange I was going to a different zone.

So I told them it was Storm Squadron. First response was that I was an idiot for doing it because it was the hardest of all the academies in game. Then one of my best friends realizes... "Um guys you do realize this means he solo'd his way up too here right?"

I did the corvette with a group so we could all get it done at once. But after that I began soloing the thing on a regular basis. Everytime it would spawn and I was in Kessel I would send the call to every Imp who wanted the corvette done to come there and group up and I would do it for them.

I got so good at it I could have it totally disarmed and ready to be destroyed in 3 passes. Then I would take on the couriers so it would spawn again and the guys I brought with me would get the honor of the final shot.

Not trying to brag just reliving memories.

Only problem is after that I really got bored. I flew missions all the time like crazy. But hardly ever got into PVP. I would go into Deep Space and destroy the corvettes there and always if a rebel was there, they would bolt so fast. If one showed up while I was there they would turn and leave. And it wasnt about being afraid of me. They were afraid to PVP with anyone. Not just rebels. Imperials too. I was the only Imperial who flew overt 90% of the time on my server.

I hope they bring new life to PVP in JTL. It really sucks that I stink in PVP on the ground and there is tons but I am a damn good pilot and couldnt find a fight to save my life.

Well, I am a neutral smuggler in a criminal organization. There is no other choice but to join the "Smuggler Alliance" :-)

For the corvette mission this means you have to kill the "Star Ravager" imperial corvette. While doing the rebel corvette mission is no piece of cake, using  bomber strike 2 (and later 3) on it makes the task so much easier compared to the imperial corvette attack. So I got me a group ... which is actually a much more fun way to do it. And despite flying in a total wreck at the end of the mission, I was still under my own power and a proud master pilot.

Crafting and resource gathering and questing at the moment takes most of my time, so I am not doing as many space missions as I would like too (which also means not getting the best loot I need to get a top of the line equipment for effective PvP). So in the near future I want to be more in Deep Space with my lineup of ships.

    Have fun

I got to where I never needed /bstrike anymore. I would take down shields with first pass, turret 5 second, and engines third. Now as long as the guy about to drop the bridge comes from the bottom then its finished and done. Just have to clean up the fighter screen and couriers. And the fighters couldnt even hit me if they wanted.

My other problem is when they announced JTL, so long ago, I dug out my wallet and bought everything I could to facilitate my flying needs. Including a set of pedals and throttle. Both of which I never needed. I keymapped everything onto the stick and still had buttons left. Unlike some of the other Flight Sims where you will use every button and still wish you had more.

I was so stoked. I had glued a velcor strap to the throttle to stick on the arm of my chair. Pedals on the ground. And stick on the keyboard drawer. Finally got into JTL beta and started mapping keys and getting everything ready. Then when I saw I didnt need the throttle or pedals I was, needless to say, disappointed.

I thought the Black Epsilon tier 3 missions was pretty hard. I couldnt get help for the corvette, so I read a guide on the pilot forums and was able to solo it my first time alot easier than those tier 3 missions. Im glad I didnt choose storm squadron :).
